What Is Hubpages???
"How incredible this world of hub is. Getting to write, which has always been a love of mine since first grade, and my sentences were much shorter. I like hubs.Hubs are nice. Just a very short time ago I had no clue what a hub was . Hubs have been a wonderful venue for me to express myself. Thankful for a place to do that, besides just my notebook. I'm proud to be a part of a certain electronic community. A community of like people. Alike in that we like to write. regardless of what our reasons are. Alike in that we share a venue to voice even our unlikeness. It is only the voice, in the end, that matters.
Having been that shy, nerdy kid, always immersed in a book, it was words that sustained me. Words that befriended me. Words, and the combinations of them, that opened gateways to other times, worlds, and experiences. Experiences, both fantastic and real. Can remember too, being the kid who garnered the ire of the other children, by requesting to do book reports. There was just nothing I loved more. There still isn't. That's why I love hubpages.
For an old throwback like me, with very limited computer knowledge, Hubpages is a Godsend. Hubpages has made their site pretty easy, for even a novice. I'm thankful too for the veteran 'hubsters' who have both welcomed me, and left some instructional hubs to devour. As both reader and writer, hubs has opened a vast electronic frontier for me. Some of the hubs i've read were funny, heart-warming, informative, thought-provoking, and some have been purely entertaining.
Some of my fellow ' hubbers', have views so far from mine . Thank God for that. This is a place for so many ideas to meet. The discussions they provoke are essential to society. Ideas stir people, after all. People stir discussion and debate. That discussion and debate stirs movement. Hubpages offers that to 'common folk' like me. It has been said that there is money to be made on Hubpages. For some that may be true, and for some others i've read it was far from that. Some aren't even seeking that, anyway. I'll leave such discourse on those issues for the 'vets'. (hats off)
There are a few , other such writing sites out there. I actually tried Triond and a couple of others... but they honestly didn't compare to the hub. Some of my own research backed up some of the things i'd read about the other such sites. Although some may argue they offer better benefit in terms of payout, or easier navigation... none of them for me had the one thing hubpages has...
The Incredibe Community
Hubpages above all the other sites feels like, and really truly is an online community. when I got onto Triond for instance it was sometime before (as a newbie)was welcomed on board. When I first arrived in "hubville" I was welcomed by not only the staff at the hubs, but by many of my fellow contributors. I found in that community some true friends, and I have seen firsthand ; the love and genuine concern that hubbers have for each other.
Of course there are some people on the hub I strongly disagree with; but disagreements are fine. The hub is set up so that the community sort of helps out the staff in policing the content on the site, and "creeps" are usually weeded out early on.
If this country was indeed designed with an emphasis on freedoms of speech and expression, then the hub community is indeed a slice of the American Ideal online. A real slice of America via the web that brings together people of all nationality, age, belief, and position to share their creativity and information. That is truly what hubpages is, and it's pretty amazing in that aspect.
