Most Memorable Opening Line in a HubPages' Challenge

What a memorable opening line above if ever there were one written by annart who was Inspired by an art installation at the Tower of London commemorating the perished soldiers of World War One.

Memorable opening lines are like that tingling sensation when new love is stirring in one's heart. Then the rush of a culmination of sensations when shy lover's hands finally touch for the first time bringing on that anticipation of what is to come. Memorable indeed!

Several months back, I began to ponder about whether how much, if any, of my writing is memorable. I thought about all of the great literature throughout history, poetry, creative writing and so on, and those I found to be memorable. I asked a question here on HubPages inquiring as to what is the most memorable line in literature or elsewhere that anyone had read. To my surprise, my question produced many interesting answers and had hundreds of views.

After a bit, I began to think on all of the memorable writing I have read over the past year here on HubPages, and through this hub, I want to take this time to show my appreciation to all the writers of such memorable writes. There is no way to include all the memorable writings I have read, so please do not despair if I did not include something you had written. To all of those I follow, I want to emphasize the reason I follow you is due to the fact that you do write memorable writes, believe me.

With dialogue, we can create anyone we please, and often with just a line or two.

— willstarr

Most Memorable Line on Writing Fiction and Short Stories

If one is smart when it comes to writing fiction and short stories, then surely one is wise to heed the brilliant advice given by Will Starr in one memorable line above. If you have never read any of Will's work, then you are missing out on a special treat. He certainly knows his stuff when it comes to writing fiction and short stories.

You'll be on your way to memorable writing of your own in following Will's great advice. Will was so kind to give away his secret.

More Memorable Lines Used in Challenges

Talk about living up to a challenge and going above and beyond, for when Romeos decided to participate in Annart's challenge, one does not easily forget his submission! His most memorable line below resulted from a beautiful painting prompt of Annart's. Her beautiful painting produced many memorable submissions to her challenge.

Romeos' beautiful poetry is always special and like no other I have read here on HubPages. He is unique, which makes his writing memorable. Thank you so much, dear Romeos, for never boring us.

That sundown, a sapphire mountain balanced ancient burn to retrieve Adonis' armour from steel clouds; dartles that had pierced a million huddled shadows upon a thousand unsure shores had sketched her world in shades of God.

— Romeos Quill

My sweet and lovely friend, shanmarie, contributed beautifully in a "Good Words" musical challenge here on HubPages, where I passed the baton of "Faith" to her. She certainly lived up to the challenge and writes most memorably in her hub, Faith and Hope.

The two work in conjunction with love to create something powerful - a sustainable ray of illumination that is both focused internally and a beacon that radiates throughout the darkness.

— Shanmarie

Memorable Last Moments Spent With a Beloved Pet

When it comes to our fur babies, there is nothing more heartrending when their time spent with us comes to an end. Our special friend, Maria, also known as marcoujor here on HubPages, lost her beloved Aunt Baby in 2014. She wrote a special tribute to Aunt Baby, Life Lessons From A Wise Dog, which is certainly a most memorable and loving tribute to her special Baby who helped her heal through a traumatic time in her life.

In reading of Maria's last precious moments with Aunt Baby in her most memorable line below, one cannot help but to become overwhelmed with emotion. I cried buckets.

I hope you weren't as frightened to start off on your next journey with my voice singing in your ear and your parents hugging you tight.

— marcoujor

Although Aunt Baby will never be forgotten, I am happy that my sweetest friend now has another fur baby in her life, sweet Andy, who is a beautiful black lab. He already knows the meaning of loyalty to his new mommy and daddy.

Earlier in 2014, I emailed Maria a photo of our newest member of our family, Max, a chocolate lab, and Maria told me that seeing that photo of Max had given her an idea and that she was so excited. To my surprise and delight, Maria later emailed me a photo of her new family member, Andy! Maria was indeed courageous to embark on a new adventure of adding to her family once again. I understand the hesitancy in rushing into adding a new family member after a great loss, for we lost our sweet Cookie in 2013, who was a Jack Russell Terrier. However, we surely missed that unconditional love our beloved fur baby provided to us, and I know Maria is now being loved unconditionally by sweet Andy boy.

"What the Faith"

What a surprise gift ... that I have put to good use. I think everyone should have one! Thank you, dear Maria!
What a surprise gift ... that I have put to good use. I think everyone should have one! Thank you, dear Maria! | Source

My dear friend, Maria Jordan, aka marcoujor here on HubPages, wrote a compelling story, "When Compassion Replaces Fear", which is a most memorable story published in Tales2Inspire: The Ruby Collection - Gifts of Compassion. Maria writes about a time when she was working with the homeless population as a nurse in Philadelphia, PA, and met "Joyce", who actually taught Maria beautiful lessons. I was thrilled to receive a copy with a lovely inscription by Maria as a Christmas gift. Of course, I had to order more copies for friends and family.

In addition to receiving her lovely book, to my surprise and delight (see my expression on my face in the photo to the right), I received my first "Dammit Doll" ...yes, that's right, I said, "Dammit Doll", which arrived on a day I needed it most. Keeping in mind I am one to try to be mindful to not use curse words, well, as we say here in the Deep South, cuss words; this unique gift provided a great outlet to pound out my frustrations in this life when necessary. After having a good long laugh at receiving such a gift, which released a lot of stress in and of itself, I decided to test it out by taking out all of my pent up frustrations on that doll. It worked! So glad my husband was not at home at the time to witness such a release. That poor doll endured and its designer fabric held up.

Now, everyone at my workplace wants one to put to good use. I believe that is my most memorable Christmas gift in 2014. Hey, even "Faith Reaper" has her moments. Thank you, dear Maria!

Memorable, Beautiful Line about Memories

Gail Sobotkin, also known as happyboomernurse here on HubPages, has written a beautiful story of love and loss, "The Boy I Loved and Lost", which was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Inner Strength.

Our generous Maria Jordan, sent this wonderful book as a gift, where dear Gail had written a beautiful inscription inside the front cover. Gail's story of her first love, Helmut, who died of bone cancer at the young age of 21, and when Gail was only 18 years of age, is poignant and powerful. This life event impacted Gail's life forever as she changed her college major from English to nursing.

Below is a memorable line Gail has written about memories. I certainly will not forget it any time soon! Thank you, Gail, for sharing your heart and impacting the lives of so many throughout your life. I know you will continue to do so. Hugs and God bless you.

I read somewhere that memories are like diamonds in the treasure chest of your spirit, and the memory I had of John, the middle aged man in the bed across from Helmut's, came back to me like newly discovered hidden treasure.

— happyboomernurse

Another Memorable Opening Line Used in a Challenge

2014 was certainly a year for challenges issued by writers, where all of the wonderful challenges produced amazing articles and many participated, which added much interest. Here is manatita44's response to a challenge issued by billybuc, The Woman on the Mountaintop.

Below is the memorable opening line. Beautiful!

At Pinnacle Peak,

At the zenith of the Cascade Mountains,

The river of life flows upwards.

The virgin dawn springs forth,

To the sanctity of the forest trails.

All around is wonder;

The resonance of the valley,

Evokes a sweet tranquillity in my heart.

— manatita44

More Memorable Lines Used in Challenges

Below is a memorable line written by my dear friend, Bill Holland, also known as billybuc here on HubPages, describing his beautiful wife, Bev, in his own response to his challenge. How lovely and memorable!

Her energy spreads forth across the great divide, to the valleys, the forests, the mountains and beyond, becoming one with them, melding with them, finding peace in them.

Memorable Opening Lines in Poetry

Personally, memorable poetry is like looking deep into the eyes of love, then with reckless abandon, being taken away to that other place.

I am unable to forget this beautiful poem written by annahaven in her hub, The Precious Christmas Card. Her writing pulls at the heartstrings powerfully.

Read Anna's most memorable opening line below, and please take time to read her entire poem, for you will not be disappointed in the least.

When the letterbox banged,

On that cold December day,

Jean shuffled with bent bones,

To collect bills she couldn’t pay.

— annahaven

There is no doubt whatsoever that, poet extraordinaire, Audrey Howitt, knows how to write a memorable opening line in poetry. Her poetry is like no other and always provokes deep thought. Just read the beauty of the memorable line below.

Magnificent!

i spoke with my soul this morning

as I was pulling weeds

thick and thorny,

troubling concept really

that one undetected

could fathom

so much.

— Audrey Howitt

Ruby, also known as alwaysexploring here on HubPages, paints a memorable picture in one's mind with this poignant, yet beautiful poem. Ruby combines a bit of her real life with her writing, which makes it even more magical. I just cannot get that picture of those little girls dancing out of my head.

This is certainly one of the most memorable poems I have read in 2014.

Read and be moved!

Oh how the little girls loved to dance for pennies in an old honky-tonk dive …

— alwaysexploring

More Memorable Lines from Poetry

Jo, also known as tobusiness here on HubPages, gets things heated up in her poem, A Poem of Love and Deceit Fools Gold. Her memorable line below is just a taste of her talent as a writer. Jo always writes to educate us on serious health issues, being a nurse. However, just like many others here, Jo is also gifted in writing superb poetry and creative fiction stories.

Tangled bodies glistening still

The potent essence swirls and spill

Melts in crucible of pleasure

She held tight her pyrite treasure …

— tobusiness

2014 Poet of the Year

What can I say about John, also known as Jodah here on HubPages, our Poet of the Year in 2014, except that he is certainly deserving of that Hubbie Award, for he is a superb poet whose writing is brilliantly creative and unique. All those who voted for him already know this to be a fact.

After reading John's poem, If I Could Write a Love Poem, there was not one bit of doubt he certainly could write one, so much so, that it has remained in my mind as one of the sweetest and memorable love poems I've read this past year. Below is one of the lines to his poem, questioning whether he can write a love poem. Check out his entire poem, and decide for yourself!

If I could write a love poem

I’d rip pieces from my heart

And place them in your open palms

To ensure we never part.

— Jodah

In 2014, We Lost Our Beloved "King of Clowns"

Jodah has written a most memorable and beautiful Ode, A Clown's Disguise an ode to Robin Williams. Robin would have been moved, or is moved!

Victoria Lynn has also written a most memorable poem in tribute to the memory of Robin Williams here in, Oh Captain My Captain Your Verse I Dare You a Poem in Honor and Memory of Robin Williams. Please enjoy!

On Letting Go

Nellieanna, one of our most gracious and prolific poets, shares her most memorable and profound thoughts in her moving poetry On Letting Go.

And in that freeing act

I, too, am freed,

Though frail,

Released

To try, to fly, to be,

To go, to do

All I am meant for, too.

— Nellieanna

Dghbrh is another prolific poet here on HubPages, please enjoy, Lead me my Shooting star a Poem. If you are not reading her poetry, you are truly missing out on a special treat of a gifted poet. Please read and be amazed!

The bright arch in the night

And you dazzle in my life to new heights,

Your eyes do chase me…

Time eternal and I immerse in your thoughts.

— dghbrh

Love from the Sky

Sweet Cris, also known as crissp here on HubPages, wrote this memorable and cozy, yet haunting poem, By The Fireside, which evokes much emotion.

I especially love the memorable line below from her poem.

My eyes grew dim

As you kissed my cheek

I breathed rushing

Without knowing

How much my heart can bear.

— Crissp

Who knew that Deb, our resident expert on birds and life at Boomer Lake, plus professional photographer, is also a brilliant poet? Well, all who read her poetry, now know, and what a special treat it is to read her poetry. Deb is also known as aviannovice here on HubPages, and her poem, The Life of a Lonely Ballet Dancer, is truly unforgettable.

Below is one memorable line from that poem.

Working her muscles until they scream,

Life of the ballet dancer is the theme,

Working so hard, can’t be replaced

Never truly loved, rarely embraced.

— aviannovice

Another, who knew ...our scientific-minded genius, Linda, also known as AliciaC here on HubPages, could unleash such dramatic flair in her poem, Lucifer's Desire The Bearer of Unearthly Light? Once again, all who read in awe of this most memorable poem, now know!

The memorable line below is just a sampling of her talent.

The flames of darkness glowed

and sent out tongues of lust,

empowered by desire

to grasp life's severed souls.

— AliciaC

Eiddwen writes stunningly beautiful lines in her poem, When Your Heart Sings!

My love are you true;

to dream without pain

where each touch

is velvet lined;

the night owl's cry,

life's tunes sway

on tomorrows breezes.

— Eiddwen

Michael, who is also known as cleaner3 here on HubPages, writes beautifully in his memorable poem, Ode to Winding Road.

As we set upon.... this journey fair,

take me back to that place where...

my mind was calm and so serene

when Nature and wonder

combined to dream …

— cleaner3

Whonunuwho always writes to glorify, and in this beauty of a poem, he does once again, In our Father's Arms a poem of reassurance. For an extra special treat, he includes his magnificent photography. Please enjoy!

It is he that has made us each, not we, ourselves,

This, as his children, we understand,

This gift of life to each, is so endowed,

As our sweet breaths are given by his hand.

— whonunuwho

Who can forget mhatter99, who writes memorable tankas, such as this beauty, Seasons Of Summer, as well as the most hilarious limericks and beautiful poems. Mh, as I like to call him, has entertained us for many years here on HubPages. I refer to him as the King of Limericks.

Seasons of summer

Gentle leaves I left behind

Tell them I’m coming

To take my place forever

In eternal memories.

Memorable Title and Line in one Flash Fiction Piece

In this haunting write, Frank Atanacio, once again writes a memorable title to a most memorably creepy flash fiction here in his, The Church's Beauty was only Skin Deep.

After reading Stephen King's quote to the right here, I now understand more why some are able to write so graphically on topics that are so memorably disturbing - I think ...

It is apparent while reading a great writer's work when alone in your home, especially these thrillers, that you are reading a great writer when you are too terrified to turn around for fear there is something behind you! You get that eerie feeling, while reading. Now, I am sure to have my back to a wall when reading any terrifying thriller novels, especially written by Stephen King or Frank Atanacio!

Randy Godwin who is from southern Georgia, grew up in the southern swamps of Georgia, and is sure to please all with his tales of the ongoings in the swamps and thereabouts, just as he does in, Halloween Tales Eulogy For A Witch Chapter 3. He writes of "true" events, but one has to wonder.

There were still faint traces of red in her hair, the famous mole above her lip--which danced around so much when she was particularly angry--was another reminder of the many tales surrounding the old girl.

Memorable Interviews

Drbj is a remarkable woman who can actually talk to the most interesting animals found on this planet. She is our own Dr. Doo ...no, no, no, but she is a Dr. Enjoy her most memorable interview here with Pronking Springbok. Drbj has an extraordinary gift of humor and creativity and it shows in everything she writes, especially her interviews. As an added bonus, her interviews are quite educational!

Stratford, the South African Springbok, shares his secrets about pronking as an escape method, as a joyful expression, and as a DBT - Date Bait Trait.

Most Memorable Hub with Profoundly Memorable Line

Mabelhenry has written one of the most beautiful and memorable hubs I have read on HubPages. I love the beauty of her message in this hub. Below, I have shared just one of the memorable lines of her hub. Back when I first read her amazing hub, I just could not forget how beautiful it is, and the imagery of the beauty of the bare trees she creates with her profound words.

The Beauty of Bare Trees

By wilderness, I mean the uninhabited place our hearts were before God took up residency there, uninhabited because if God doesn't dwell there, it is an empty place indeed in terms of life.

My sweet South African friend, Martie, emailed also, after having attempted to comment here. She told me it was okay for me to copy and paste her comment from her email in my hub. I tried at that time, as I did for another, and I was unable to copy and paste, so I will do so now, so she will not have to take time out to return and comment all over again. I appreciate you so much, lovely Martie and appreciate your most generous comments.

Here is Martie Coester's lovely comment:

      Dear Faith

I don't know what's wrong with HP or with my computer. While I manage to post comments successfully on some hubs, I try in vain posting them on other hubs.

This is my comment on your hub. Please copy and paste in there and mention the fact that I am experiencing problems -

Dear Faith, you have gathered and shared remarkable memorable lines, and all the links to your fellow-hubbers, including myself, are truly useful. I feel honoured to be mentioned by you - one of the loveliest and most respectable writers in HP.

      So nice to read you!

You are so kind. I truly have enjoyed reading your amazing and memorable poetry here. Never stop writing, dear heart.

Thank you for saying such about my writing. I have been remiss in publishing, and I just wanted to let everyone know how much I truly appreciate their wonderful writing, as I try to read all who I follow when they publish. I truly enjoy reading all the poetry, creative short stories, health articles, helpful articles, delicious recipes shared, flash fiction and all the rest.

Oh, dear, I knew I included your most memorable contribution to the Good Words Musical Challenge on Faith here ... I will make amends! It is so beautifully written and memorable, please know.

You are so smart! No, it did not just fix itself, as I did a forum and so the HP Team was notified and they then fixed this problem as well as other problems that have been going on with other issues too.

I have always loved reading your most memorable poetry and wish you would go back and publish all of yours and your wonderful creative short stories. They are all wonderful and memorable, especially when you include your amazing photographs.

      Hugs

That is exactly why I wanted to publish this hub to let all those who I love to read and follow know exactly that ... that their writing is memorable and special, just as they are special people, just like you, dear heart. You and your work are so deserving of being highlighted, as everything I have ever read that you have read has made an imprint on my heart and mind. You are one memorable lady and so is your writing.

Lily is such a sweetheart and just loves kittens. She wants to be one and always wants me to make her face with the whiskers and such, so cute. Grandchildren makes the world so much more joyful no doubt.

I know you are blessed with many grandchildren.

Dear Theresa, you've captured so much of the essence of what Hubbers create here on HP. It was an inspiration of yours to make a wonderful hub to review 2014 writings here! I'm awed by how much you've covered! Thank you for bringing it together this way and for including one of my poems.

I like the inclusion of famous 'first lines' from Hubbers and literature, as well. I couldn't help but think of Jane Austen's first line in "Pride and Prejudice" which captures the essence of the whole story. :-D ~ "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Thereafter the novel follows Mrs. Bennett's effort to get all her 5 daughters well-married off before such time as Mr. Bennett might die and leave them homeless, due to the "entail" law of the time, by which daughters could not inherit, nor could they work. The only hope was to marry someone who could take care of them. It is Mrs. Bennett's main obsession and everything else in the novel somehow relates to it. A clever first line!

Ah, your comment section is working again. Now I can repeat what I have sent you via email, my dear Faith. But in other words.

This is truly a remarkable tribute to your fellow-hubbers, as any writer is delighted when they see/hear that something they have written had made an impact on their readers. And not only writers. When we learn that somebody has given us a compliment behind our back by telling others about something remarkable we have said or done, we DO feel special, honoured and meaningful (while we feel miserable when they do the opposite.)

You, too, have a habit of writing memorable lines. I wish I had the time to gather them all. But now you have given me an idea. From now on I am going to collect them...

Thanks again for mentioning me and for publishing such a valuable and useful hub. HubPages should use this to direct newbies to the best examples of memorable hubs :)

Oh, how lovely when you, our most gracious and gifted poet, dearest Nellieanna, grace our pages here!

Thank you for your most generous comment. Yes, there are so many talented writers and poets here, and all write such memorable writings.

I am so glad you have shared here one your favorite and most memorable opening lines in literature, as was suggested. I believe you are the first to do so. As I stated, I had asked a question here on HP, which produced such interesting responses, such as your response here.

Oh, yes, Jane Austen's first line in "Pride and Prejudice" is certainly a memorable one. Clever, indeed, for it is remarkable how it truly does set the scene for the entire novel!

Please know just how much your poetry has made such an impact on all who read. You are brilliant and I do hope you know how much you are cherished and appreciated.

Hugs, blessings and love to you and yours always

Aw, Frank, so glad you thought this a fantastic idea and fun too. Yes, it was a year of many changes going on with many comings and goings for sure. Ironically, I received a nice visit just today from Marlene, Love Doctor. I do miss her and all of the others who seemed to have just disappeared. I do know that dear Epi has his own site now, but for awhile had some health issues. I have not heard a peep out of moms-secret but my "Hug of the Day" to her is my highest scoring hub right now, ironically ... oh, the other week, I did hear from dear Debbie "Ms. Brooks", who left a sweet comment on one of my hubs. She is an agent now! She is publishing up a storm too. Do you need an agent? Well, as far I go, I have been terribly remiss in publishing here this past year myself, and so I just wanted to give a shout out to all those who continue to write memorable hubs, such as yourself. I hope to be able to increase my publishing here this year and get back in the groove as they used to say lol. Bless you too! ...I think I will add a photo here for more amusement of my reclining cat, George hee hee

Faith (Theresa) thank you for your generosity in sharing these memorable lines and highlighting the works of other HP writers (including myself). The acknowledgement from my peers is what is most important to me and touches my heart more than any prizes or monetary awards. All the lines here that you are chosen are memorable and so deserving. Here is an opening line that you wrote in a poem for your dear grandmother that should be included:

      "O’ sweet child

      With a broken wing

One without a song to sing"

I do hope you continue to share your brilliant and memorable writings with us here for many more years to come!

Aw, bless you for sharing one of my opening lines in my poem, how sweet of you! See, that is what I am talking about, that very thing, as you have stated, which means so much and touches one's heart.

Here's to another year of memorable writing. I have been remiss in my publishing, but I wanted to show my appreciation to all those who have continued to write much to the pleasure of all who read. I hope to get back into regularly publishing here this year.

Thank you so much.

I'd like to add a line from Bill's hub on the role of writers; he chooses his words so well, always:

      https://hubpages.com/literature/We-Were-There-A-Mo...

      "We Were There

Pen and paper in hand, we have trudged through the calendar of our times. We are the observers, the recorders, the dispassionate, and passionate, voices of the generations. Recorded history would not exist if it were not for us."

A few of my favourite first lines from poems that resonates with me include:

"Do not go gentle into that good night." (Dylan Thomas)

"To see a World in a grain of sand, and heaven in a wild flower.." (From Auguries of Innocence by William Blake)

"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky. (Sea Fever, by John Masefield)

"because I could not stop for death,

He kindly stopped for me." (Emily Dickinson)

"First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew. ( Pastor Niemoller).

I hope all is well with you, I'm more touched by the mention than words can say. My best to you as always.

Good Morning, my lovely and dear friend, Ann!

Your most memorable opening line there in the hub with the poppies (flowers I love), is so beautifully powerful that I have never forgotten it. Therefore, it had to be highlighted, of course! I truly have enjoyed reading everything you have written. Thank you for sharing your lovely gift here and knowledge to boot with all of us here in this wonderful community.

Max is so gorgeous and even more so now, that he has grown so huge with a lovely shiny brown coat. I have now added a photo of my dear cat, George, at the bottom of the hub there, as I felt guilty for leaving him out. I am trying to not take after George too often in remaining in that reclining mode of his!

Yes, Bill certainly chooses his words carefully and thank you for sharing that hub of his. It is memorable for 2015 and an amazing way to start this new year off! Here, I was concentrating on the memorable writes of 2014.

I do hope to get my behind in gear and write, write, write in this new year. I am inspired by all of the challenges, especially your lovely challenge from your most beautiful painting prompt. Maybe that is how I will begin this year from here on out in participating in all of the wonderful challenges.

      Hi Dear Ruby (alwaysexploring),

Thank you so much for returning here after attempting to comment during the time of that dreaded glitch here on HP! You are so supportive, which means the world to me.

I truly love reading your poetry and creative writing stories, for you draw us into your story as if we were right there experiencing exactly that which you are writing.

Your writing is especially heartfelt due to the fact that you are gifted at intertwining bits of your true life's experiences in your writing. It takes a courageous soul to do so, and a gifted one too.

Here, in this publication, I wanted to take time out to show a bit of appreciation to all of those whom I have read, for I have been a bit remiss in my publishing, but I plan to remedy that soon.

It is a lovely community in which to belong, especially with you being a part of it.

I do hope you are enjoying a peaceful Sunday afternoon.

      Hugs and blessings

HubPages is certainly a wonderful community in which to belong no doubt. I am glad you found this hub to be memorable. Thank you for sharing that with me, as it means the world to me.

      Oh, lovely, Ann,

You are so precious and I am honored that you had gotten carried away, for that is certainly a good thing and I am so happy to know you think of this as a good idea!

Bill's line is certainly a memorable line to start this new year off with no doubt! I will remember it for next year. I do love Bill's most memorable line from his response to his challenge resulting from his lovely photograph of his precious wife, Bev. That photo inspired most memorable writings indeed, and your submission is certainly one too.

Yes, George is great and such a pistol at times, as we say here in the US.

Sounds like you are taking advantage of the beautiful sunny day there. I am so much like you, as I don't mind the winter so much when there is sunshine.

We are about to take Max on a lovely walk too in the beautiful sunshine here.

Hugs and much love to you over the pond, dear heart

Oh Dear Faith Reaper, voted up, useful and awesome...I am in awe of the time you took to create this beautiful tribute to so many on Hub Pages...I am certain this has resulted in many, many smiles and nods from all who have read this. Also, THANK YOU for mentioning my hub about the wedding night. Also, this is an exquisite exit to 2014, wonderful reminders for your hub friends to return to and review. I will be back with a quote, which you mention later on. And GEORGE! How I want to hug that beautiful little furry bundle. How lucky he is to have your love. THANK YOU for bringing this hub to my attention via email as my computer is screwed up with hub notifications from people I have never even heard of. God bless, stay in touch, I will too. Here, I just wanted to take time out to show a little appreciation to all those who continue to write such memorable writing, including you! Although I was not able to publish as often as I would have liked last year, I did try to read all of the writings published by those whom I follow. I knew you would love George. I hope all of your fur babies are doing well! Your computer issues may not actually be with your computer as HP has been having terrible glitches here of late but they are working to solve them all. God bless you too. Stay warm. Hugs and much love always

Hahaha, Ann ... I did not think about others not knowing exactly what that expression means! Well, actually it is an idiom or bit of slang here, and it means he is a bit mischievous but not too terribly troublesome. In the Deep South, we love to say that someone is a real hoot, which is actually a compliment. Or another expression we like to say which is also a compliment but really does not sound like one is ... he is a mess LOL they both mean someone who is a lot of fun to be around and stirs up stuff, but in a good way. I am blessed and grateful for your friendship. Yes, a lovely walk. Hugs

I had a great many things to say, Faith, but... well... they're all gone!

I started here as a servant some five years ago, and you remind me of what I aspired and am aspiring to be. I want only to serve, to inspire, to elevate and lift myself as well as others, to the supernal beauty within.

You know this, feel this and now you're sharing this. You give freely of yourself, and you do this in a way that reaches the heart - opportunity to raise the Consciousness, the only way to heal the Form.

Wonderful choice of quotes from very noble and excellent Souls, and let me take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the mention. I was not looking for an opening memorable line, but I guess it just came from within.

Well my sweet Theresa, you've given us more that memorable lines:

"You've left us your golden-crested inner beauty, and a heart that burned with goodness, as your fingers played their celestial music, on a keyboard that resonated with the very Essence of your breath: LOVE." -Manatita

Dear sweet and talented Theresa. You’re so gracious! Thank you.

I can’t wait to get back into writing and publishing my hubs more frequently. I write constantly, it seems. Can't help myself. There are many prospective hubs circulating. I tend to go with the flow, though, feeling that it will announce when it is ready. I am always ready, but not pressured to perform. I like spontaneity and finding 'the moment' as it presents itself. Too much determination or control seems to stifle that.

But among my other activities, I’m making more trips to the ranch and reading more, am active in FB, where many of my close relatives are to be found, and am also involved in a pair of closed FB groups for which I’m qualified and in which discussions are so active and usually worthwhile, that they often result in hundreds of posts. Wit is admired but no allegation goes unchallenged, so one tends to research carefully. It's something of an education to one who is not currently (or recently) 'boned up' on everything in progress. I post some and try to seem alert and aware, but just reading the threads is exciting and time-consuming! It flies by so swiftly, one scarcely notices. But, always, my heart is fully warmed, excited and delighted right here! I could never abandon this wonderful place and its associations. I also don't want to limit the horizons. There is no mutual exclusivity. I have the sense that expanding one's horizons keep one fully alive and with the times. It just takes me longer! haha. Only a couple of weeks till year 83 has been reached and then proceeds onward, Lord willing.

I so confess that a good leading line or paragraph of a book is a hook I cannot resist. Then, to discover how apt it is to the entire story gives a second thrill. I’m currently reading “East of Eden”, an amazing book. Here is its sendoff:

“The Salinas Valley is in Northern California. It is a long narrow swale between two ranges of mountains, and the Salinas River winds and twists up the center until it falls at last into Monterey Bay.

“I remember my childhood names for grasses and secret flowers. I remember where a toad may live and what time the birds awaken in the summer — and what trees and seasons smelled like —- how people looked and walked and smelled even. The memory of odors is very rich.”

      wow. wow. wow.

I am overwhelmed at your tremendous comment here! In reality, I am pretty much speechless, which is a rare thing to occur ... Tee hee. Your comment is most memorable and I will cherish it in my heart forever, so thank you, dear hear, for blessing me beyond measure!

Oh, there is no way that I could have left you out here, dear heart, especially with all of your most eloquent poetry filling our souls to the uttermost, and then with that most memorable opening line, it just had to be shared with all.

Oh, yes, we are overflowing with amazing talent here in all of the writers on HubPages, and I know I have many that I have yet to read, which is most exciting.

Please continue to share your gift of writing with us here, for HubPages just would not be the same without it, please know.

I have never read a more beautiful comment to me, as you have shared here in your last line there. It means the world to me, more than you will ever know or comprehend. Thank you, once again, for blessing me beyond measure this day.

      Wow. Wow. Wow, indeed Nellieanna!

What a sendoff in "East of Eden" ...you have excellent taste in what you choose to read, oh most wise one, YOU!

Oh, I am so excited in knowing of your prospective hubs yet to be published. We surely have missed your eloquent writing here on HubPages, please know.

You are certainly wise to be active in many areas of your life, for variety is without a doubt the spice of life and keeps us feeling alive!!! I know you are a much welcomed and qualified member of your closed FB groups, for you always provide such great insight to all of life's experiences and all are wise to heed your insight.

That is so true about when reading threads ...how time flies so quickly! It must be that it is extremely interesting for it do so, I would think.

Oh, that will be a glorious celebration of your life in a couple of weeks, for I have come to embrace each birthday now and cherish each moment, especially being a breast cancer survivor. Each birthday now takes on a whole different meaning in this life.

Thank you for blessing me with your most gracious presence here this beautiful day.

Peace, hugs and much love to you and yours always

      Dear Theresa,

I've recently joined Hubpages to enter into community that will promote my exploration into writing and literature. Lately, however, I had begun to doubt my own weak writing and if I could actually make it of any decent quality.

I began to disillusion myself that all that I could possibly say has already been said better by amazing authors of the past. Now witnessing these modern writers in the same online community creating beautiful memorable lines, I've been once again encouraged to pursue the ability to express myself and the art of writing.

      Thank you, Adrianna Rose.

PS: I shall definitely be reading the poetry and stories from this page.

      Hello Dear Genna,

Always lovely to see you stopping by to read! You are such a lovely and kind person, and writer extraordinaire, no doubt about it! I appreciate your most generous comments here. This was bit of a labor of love, especially due to all of the HP glitches over the weekend, which increased the time of compiling and getting it ready to publish, then when I did publish, no one was able to comment. Thankfully, HP has since addressed these issues, all except the one about not being able to access our Groups. I went to bed last night with a hubber score of 93 and woke up to 90, and now 89 ... oh well, c'est la vie, as they say LOL

I hope your week is lovely.

Hi Theresa, Wow, what an amazing hub! so many talented people, takes my breath away! and thank you so much for mentioning my hub too, to be even on the same page as these amazing writers is an honor! There is one hub that has stuck with me over the last few days, the opening paragraph stopped me dead in my tracks, and made what happened in Paris last week so darn real it made me cry like a baby! Not sure if I should put all the paragraph here, oh hell I have too......

Its by Ann, Annart, and goes like this.......

'You are in your office. You’re working on the next edition of your magazine, at your desk, deciding which of your ideas is the most dramatic, the most meaningful. It’s a mild, windy day, the window-panes are rattling. Then you hear a noise that doesn’t blend into the usual background. You start to feel uneasy. Before you can work it out, the door bursts open and so do the machine guns. For you and nine other colleagues, that’s the end of the story, the brutal finale to your life. Bodies wrenched from existence, left staring in disbelief at the ceiling, arms and legs flung, limp and bloodied, across the desks, to the floor, cut down in the split second of a thought of fleeing. Family and friends who are absent from that scene are not spared the brutality'

Phew! heartpounding soul wrenching sadness, after watching it on tv, this was the one thing that brought that horror home to me.

This was a wonderful hub Theresa, and many writers I have haven't been over to read for a while, so thank you! nell

      Dear Faith Reaper;

Firstly, may I extend warmest wishes to you and your beautiful family for this brand new year of two-thousand and fifteen that you may long continue to be blessed as you have continually blessed others here as well with your bona-fide life-changing encounters with the Lord and just by being you.

Whoa! This is a Hub-and-three-quarters you've compiled here in honour of many of the heartbeats of HP City, comprising a heady cocktail of writers who love, to lovers who write; lovers who love and writers who might :) I would like to think that the most memorable lines created are those crafted when you make us smile.

I'm sure it must have been difficult to finalize, and wholesale agreement might have sought an extended lease to satisfy all but certainly appreciate a rectangular mention.

Please give your fortuitous stress doll an extra squeeze from me ;) and sending virtual strokes to Prince chocolate bum and King George of recliner town.

The lioness goes from strength to strength.

      Gramercy and love to the costliest ruby of them all;

      Dear Deergha (dghbrh)!

I am so thrilled to see you here. I hope you have been well. You are one of HP's most prolific poets and all of your poetry is certainly memorable.

I apologize for missing out here of late on reading your work, for it seems I have not been receiving notifications when you publish.

I will make amends and have included a most memorable line hear from you amazing poem, "Lead me my Shooting Star".

I appreciate you so much and thank you for the vote up and more, and especially the share!

      You're the best.

God bless you too, dear heart.

Hi my lovely friend, Ann (Annart),

Nell's expressed enthusiasm about your writing is understood and we all feel the same, at least I know I do without a doubt, dear heart.

You are so kind, and I just have added one prolific poet, dghbrh, who you must truly check out her most memorable poetry, if you have not already. I have just included her stunningly beautiful and memorable poem here, Lead me My Shooting Star.

I am still attempting to make sure I include all those I follow and have read that are truly memorable. So, I will be amending as my brain gets in gear.

Hope you have a lovely day.

      Hello Faith Reaper,

All of these quotations are wonderful, I agree, but what I think is more wonderful is the fact that you made note of these words and showed your appreciation for them. Your thoughtfulness is admirable and, completely off topic, your pets are adorable :)

      Hi Dear Phyllis,

Oh, you are so precious to return here and leave yet another lovely comment. I am blessed beyond measure to have received so many comments, especially with the terrible glitches on HP over the weekend, which did not allow anyone to comment after I published. The fact that so many returned to comment fills my heart to the overflow and means more than I could ever put into words.

I have added a couple more to the most memorable since publishing as they have popped into my mind, and I just had to add them. One is the most courageous and heartrending hub/poem I have ever read that my dear sister in Christ, lambservant, has shared of childhood trauma, and how love prevailed. It is so powerfully moving, that all should read. It brings tears for it is both poignant and beautiful. I have no words to express how I felt when I read this piece. I do hope she does not mind, for I believe it will help many out there in this world who may be frightened or lost to give them hope.

Thank you, dearest Phyllis, for being a writer extraordinaire and beautiful person on this Earth.

Peace and blessings to you, sweet lady

It is a true labor of love and I enjoyed putting it together, for I was able to reread so many memorable stories, poems, challenges and all the rest. I may just do this again for 2015. Hi Victoria Lynn, I am so glad you stopped by to read. Yes, 2014 was such a memorable year for great writing and a lot of other life events too, such as losing Robin Williams. I am still in shock for it is so sad the way he died. Your poem is such a memorable and beautiful tribute to him. I just had to add it here along with Jodah's Ode. Oh, I am so sorry for your great loss, dear heart. Our fur babies are our family and it is truly heartbreaking when they must leave us. We lost our Cookie last year and a bit ago. I wrote about her. Last year went by so fast and it seems like we just lost her, but it was a little over a year ago or longer. We do love Max and George and they no doubt provide that uncondtional love. When we moved to the country almost seven years ago, we lost our beloved cat of 17 years, Kitty. If you think it may help, you should write about your beloved fur babies. (((Hugs)))

What a lovely Hub Faith commemorating so many great writers. I saw this on HubPages a few times and wondered what it was; I intended to read it each time but I was doing something else. I wish that I had read it sooner.

It must have taken you a while to write it, when I read it I had to do it in two segments. It was great to read and recall those Hubs/sayings. Those were also cute photos of the pets. I also loved the one of your...oh, you did not say, but her name was Lily. She was cute.

Speaking of Eiddwen - what has it been 2 or 3 mo.'s since hearing from her? I hope that she is okay.

I also wanted to thank you for mentioning one of my Hubs in your list, I appreciate it. :-) The way you spoke about all of those poets, story writers and other writers, I am sure that they all appreciate it.

      You take care Faith

      Hi Kevin,

Thank you so much. I know you are busy with tax time, so I appreciate you taking time to read and comment here.

Yes, I tried to include as many as I could, but had to cut it off at some point. I have added more since my initial publication. Glad you enjoyed the photos, as I had to think really hard to come up with something to add interest and break up the many quotes here, so I hope I achieved that at least.

I have been wondering about Eddy too! I do hope and pray she is well. She is one amazing poet and multi-talented in art too.

Oh, I love your hub about the Secret Kisser, so entertaining and creatively done. I had to mention it here because it is truly a memorable write. Really one of my favorites in 2014.

      God bless.

I finished my taxes but either have to fix my printer or find another way to send them. I have been writing another of Billy's challenges now.

I was busy reading your Hub, the photos added just enough 'time-outs'.

I was ready to see a quote from something. I was really surprised when I saw that you dedicated an entire Hub! I thank you again.

I remember your Hub "Three Life Changing Events..."

      Have a nice day.

      Hi Kevin (The Examiner-1),

Oh, I know you are relieved to have those done. Yes, one does need to take a couple of breaks on this one LOL.

I truly loved that hub of yours. Oh, I am so glad you thought that hub of mine was memorable too. It was memorable for me in real life, as I always say when I retell that story to my friends, "We had three major life events all in one week, a new house, a chewed-up husband and a grandbaby!" Hahaha I can laugh about it now, as my husband was okay, but it was terrifying, especially with it happening on the very first day in our new home, and then a few days later our first grandbaby was born in a city about an hour away!

I do hope to get busy and participate in all of the wonderful challenges too. Billybuc starts some really great ones for sure.

      Blessings to you.

Faith Reaper, friend, lovely person, so full of love, joy and genuine sincerity. I am overwhelmed at the time you took to provide kudos and encouragement to so many of our hub family. Thank you for your kind words about my 'wedding night' hub...even though the editors thought differently...plopped a dollar sign in front of it with a line going through it. But I stand on my principles and I will not budge.
