You No Longer Have Permission To Answer Questions, Really?

Updated on January 26, 2012

Censorship, anyone?

So, what's this then?

As any of you who have read many/any of my Hubs has probably realized, I'm kind of sarcastic.

Just a bit.

So, when I've been answering Questions, I've rarely taken them seriously. I just type whatever pops into my head.

If asked a question like, "What are Newt Gingrich's kids names?" My first reaction is, "Really, your Google broke?" My second reaction is to give a list of stupid names. "George Herbert Walker Foreman-Grill Gingrich" and such. Who cares?

Really, how does a question like that matter in the least? Research? Wikipedia, Google, Newtfortzarofallamericas.com. Pick one.

If you have so little sense of humor that you flag someone's answers because you thought they didn't take the question seriously, OK, fine. You've got the problem, not me.

But HubPages, really? I may have made fun of the question. In fact, a couple of my questions have done exactly that. I may have poked a little fun AT the subject, but what did I do other than that?

I did not curse. I did not fling poo (or virtual poo). I did not call the asker's mother's ancestry into question. Nor did mock the person, just the question.

We all ask stupid questions. We all ask questions we think are important, which are stupid.

Don't tell me there is no such thing as a stupid question. I asked, "How high is up?" I actually got some pretty good answers for my inane question.

So, I guess I just have to ask myself stupid questions and mock myself with crazy answers.

But it's not going to be as fun while I'm sitting around waiting for ideas to use for Hubs.

By the way, this is number 50. Go me!

Note: After a couple of days, I could answer questions again! However, the two questions that got moderated are still gone or closed to new answers. Go figure.

I just had three of my questions deleted for "initiating conversation"! Yet when I posted a one sentence answer on someone elses question I was told it was too short! And I have seen other questions still going that have answers a page long! I truly don't get it. So, somehow I don't doubt what you say!

Well, I guess I am their pet weirdo. I not only didn't have my account closed or anything, I'm part of the June crop of Apprentices or whatever.

i just did a search for "You no longer have permission to answer questions." and there were 2 questions related to this - both have been removed!

I am permanently banned from answering questions in the question section. My Hubscore is always over 80 because I write interesting Hubs. My Hub traffic comes from Google and I make money for Hubpages because they put ads on my pages without giving me a cent when anyone clicks. I no longer contribute here because there is too much interference from power crazed folks who monitor this website.

They seem to have released me. I haven't tried anything silly, but I did answer one. I then did another as, "Answer as a Hub" and just saved the title to remind me to write it. Who knows what it will actually become by the time the contest rolls around. I thought it was starting the first of February. Is it the 1st of March?

I answered a question with a hub today, then realized the contest doesn't start for five weeks. Maybe you can break out of HubPages jail in time to participate. Maybe I can unpublish my hub, put it back up in five weeks and win the big prize!

I believe it was Steve Irwin and The Chimps. Yes, exactly. It had nothing to do with The Buggles at all.

Wow, 53 hubs in 4 weeks, you kick ass. Seems like you might have livened ups the questions and answers. They normally seem to be kind of dry.

I just plain love music. If it hadn't been for the invention of digitals, I probably would have tried to open a music store. But digitals killed the analog star.

I've got to admit that once I got the email pointing out that HubPages is pushing Questions and Answers for February, it made sense that they didn't like my nonesense.

But, STOP MAKING SENSE! I'm about to write it.

Every question deserves a silly answer. It might make you stop and go, "Jebus, I sure am full of the stupid today."

If the majority of what I write can be classed as Humor, how do you expect me to react to questions like, "What are the names of the Planets?"

The word NO should not be included in any comment on one of my Hub articles everyone is entitled to their own opinion, every question deserves silly answers!

People need to stop taking themselves so seriously, use Google it is your friend just like spellcheck.

'No Doug, no questions deserve silly answers' sounds like your talking to your dog or or your child and you talk about etiquette, perhaps you don't understand the meaning of the word!

No Doug, no questions deserve silly answers. Some people are looking for answers because they are confused, some are looking discussions and opinions, some are plain ignorant of the facts and really need answers and others are looking for accolades.

HP will not tolerate this kind of behaviour, it bad etiquette, if there is such a thing. Have you visited the help and learning centers yet? Please see the rules and guidelines for asking and answering questions. Or read a few hubs by experienced hubbers that have written on the subject of HP rules and guidelines.

Well the truth is Doug, when some people ask a question they don't expect to be made fun of and in some cases insulted. "Did your Google break" is an insult to thin skinned people. I would vote down an answer like that. I wouldn't flag it but there are some people who would. I guess HP would prefer you answering the questions properly if not, don't answer at all. I think it's not nice to make fun of people's questions. We are dealing with different kinds of people so it's best to play safe.

You should use that for a pen name if you publish any hubs and want to remain anonymous . . . permission to use that too?

plain'tard, that is so common. But I really like it . . . a nutard with no opinion would be a plain'tard.

I reckon I'm an old traditionalist, nowhere near new!

But I used your quote in my new hub, however I didn't attribute it to you . . . because well, I guess I'm a thief, but an honest one!

The little Rifftrax short (that I put the link to as my answer) asked that question and never answered it. It was one of the things the guys riffing the short kept going back to, "BUT is corn grass or not?"

      Indeed, it is!

      Eric,

It really suprised me. I had openly commented about people asking and answering Questions for the various accolades. The more I looked at the questions, the more of the, "How high is up,"-type questions I saw being asked merely to get answers.

It's ridiculous. I don't see what purpose the Questions serve at all. I've heard the "research for hubs" thing, but c'mon, really?

Somethgblue: How did I write 50 Hubs between 12/25/11 and 1/23/12? I just made it a point that I would write 1 Hub a day. Some days I had more ideas and would write more. Every now and then my wife would toss me an idea. https://hubpages.com/entertainment/5-Ways-to-Reali... is an idea she handed to me. I think it's one of my better hubs.

And what's beyond stupid? It's devolved: Devo. So much of this seems purposeful stupidity.

And then I look at the kids at work and have to hold my head in pain.

I guess it's all the hitting myself with a hammer to make them smarter or me stupider or something.

Giaocatore: Part of the score thing seems to be feedback to hubs, interaction on the site, and plain old voodoo. I've seen some poorly written--badly typed, poorly spelled, grammar optional--hubs that had fairly high individual scores. I don't understand this place.

Dunno what to say. I've seen your questions, but not your answers, so I can't really comment. I've been playing it safe by giving my joke answer followed by my real answer, Hollywood Squares style.

How the Hell can you write fifty hubs in four weeks, I don't even have a life and haven't written fifty in four months.

On the other hand my hubs are nothing short of brilliant, full of insightful awesomeness, wrapped in a cocoon of superlative knowledge and pulsating with unadulterated throbbing wisdom, so that does take some time granted!

Some one flagged you for being sarcastic no wonder my hub ratings/scores suck !

Are we supposed to take ourselves seriously, it doesn't say that any where in the help forum.

Of course the answer to How high is up, is easy even for a nutard like me . . .

. . . but before I tell you suppose you answer a question that has been nagging me for weeks?

I've been looking for this word, but it escapes me perhaps you know it?

What is beyond stupid? Is there anything beyond stupid, is stupid as low as you can go or is there something beyond stupid, cause if there is it lives right here in America, I'm sure of it . . .
