Google AdSense - Allowed sites - any site or only certain sites option? Which one to use?
I found that the option "allow only certain sites to display your ads" is only a measure of precaution keeping your ID code safe from theft. I also found a statement by Google saying that you don't need to add new accounts to your Google account as they are connected automatically based on the ID code. I use the "allow any site to display your ads" option, but most people use the other one claiming that you don't earn anything unless you make a list of allowed sites first: I'm confused...explanation from other members are welcome, too
I was under the assumption that this allowed only certain advertisements to be displayed. For instance, a vegan hubber may not want meat ads showing on his/her hubs. I believe it is supposed to allow for advertising exceptions.
Thanks for answering pearlgearl, but that's not the case. Here's a quotation from one of the answers concerning the question in The AdSense Help Forum:
"The allowed sites list is to approve a list of sites where your adsense code is allowed to be displayed.
If someone nicks your adsense code and places it on their own site and starts clicking like mad on the ads, those fraudulent clicks would show up in your account and could disable your account."
The forum threads with comments were useful to me, but I still have to do some research because I didn't quite understand the feature. I switched back to "allow any site to display ads" but Hubpages still turns up as an unauthorized site which means I'm currently not earning anything from AdSense here. I'm worried about it and hope to resolve the matter soon
Always allow only certain sites. People love to mess with other people for no reason. Don't let it happen to you.
Pearlgirl you are thinking about the competitive ad filter. That would allow you to do what you are describing

Well, that’s nice, very nice. I haven’t got a clue of what I did wrong. And after filling in the online appeal form they told me they had reviewed my account information, taken my feedback into account, but still had concluded that my AdSense account has posed a significant risk. And I have no idea...

I'm relatively new to this site.I know most sites of its type do their best to be "Google friendly" which translates into "family friendly" (a phrase I hate, by the way). Over the years when tempted to use profanity either in a title or in the body of an article (and I can...
