Do you have trouble formatting text in the text capsule of your hubs?

I don't know if it's just me but this has been an ongoing problem for me since I joined HP.  I prefer to type my work out in a word document and then copy-paste but sometimes the format is ruined.  Usually, my spacing is changed and I cannot change it back (the changes are not saved).  If this is an issue for more of us, it should be dealt with!

If you have ads yes it puts the balance off which especially bad with poetry so I make it long and skinny or just rearrange whatever it is to look balanced once it is posted and i see what is off center.

I believe the only formatting we can do is what the capsule allows us to do.  You can do some extra things by adding more text capsules than you would normally.  And you could put extra lines between paragraphs and at the beginning or the end of capsules.  But you are going to get the same type face, the same line spacing and the same type size as all of us at HubPages.  This is the style that HubPages has found is the best for professional looking hubs.

Have you checked the HubPages tutorials?

    Good Luck with your hubs!

    Majadez,

Is there a reason you like to use a word processor instead of the text capsule? A word processor codes the text, just like HubPages text capsule codes the text. Some of the coding from your word processor is probably not allowed by HubPages and so it reformats it into something allowable.

Quite frankly I think the text capsule should have everything you need, including spell check, bold, italics, underline, paragraphs, etc. Tabbing that you might do in a word processor will be lost because that is not an html tag at all. Something like that isn't anything that could be changed by HubPages.

And at least when you use the HubPages text capsule, pretty much what you see is what you get. I would use it if I were you. If you want to save your work on your computer then you could copy from the capsule and put it into the word processor, format it the way you want, and save it.

Are you typing the words in Notepad and then trying to paste?  I've had problems with that for years on various sites.  Or are you using a less-known browser perhaps?  Just wondering as I haven't had any  format issue while pasting from Word into a module.

When I get spaces from copy/paste from word , I just use delete with cursor at end of previous line. If I don't use paste from capsule but right click and paste with mouse, I don't usually have spaces between paragraphs. I love to use Word. My text always looks pretty good. My Word is old, from 2003. Hope this helps

Thanks to everyone for your answers. I think that the simplest solution is that I type in the text capsule and then copy my work into word to save on my computer.

It has just been very frustrating because I can never save the correct formatting. I've used Word 2003 & 2007 as well as different browsers.

Anyway, it doesn't matter now. It's always best to keep things simple so that's what I'll do. Thanks again for the feedback.

Well, I also publish my hubs the same way - first writing it in MSWord and then copying and pasting it in the text capsules. Frankly speaking, I don't really pay attention towards the formatting of the text(and of course spacing between the words, if there is sufficient spacing as per the requirement of the hub). Choosing the layout of the hub is also decisive in the formatting of your text. If you are writing a poetry or something, where you need to break a line, there you may have some problem, but with a rich-text hub, as I think, formatting is not a matter of concern. Good luck! smile

Majadez, I normally just type text into the text capsule, but have had the same problem on the occasions I've copy/pasted text from Word.  I know enough about coding (html AND word processors) that I corrected the formatting by going into the text capsule HTML. Note: don't do this unless you know what you're doing.

I just wrote a poem, and I had problems with spacing, etc.  I copied from Word, but my spacing was not the same.  At least I know from these answers it isn't me. My poem just isn't the way I would like for it to look.
