    Be honest when writing.

This will bring rich dividends in a long run.

Besides, you need to remember your bank account! LOL smile-

If you're really doing it to make money, you can go one of three ways. 1) You can write about useful things--how to build a table, etc. 2) If you are an artistic person, you can write about reality and do so in an honest manner that will offend the establishment types or the more sanctimonious among us who hate hearing the truth. 3) Or you can do what 99% of the others do and become a hack scribe who gets hired somewhere and writes whatever he's told.

I've observed that many people start compromising with quality after some time in order to generate more content. Its important to remember that in the long run its the quality which will keep people visiting your article/hub etc and keep a check on your bounce rate.

A related thing is value addition. Writing high quality content on your terms which is useless for others is not going to be worth it.

Last but not the least, always remember that the kind of article you are writing should be apt for the site you're writing. While hub pages provide a lot of freedom, many other sites don't. For example, Writing poetry for a website where it's not accepted or probably not valued will lead to either rejections or worse not as much success as deserved.

Patience and Perseverance. It takes time to earn money from online writing, so one have to wait. Keep on writing and persist. That is the most important.

Writing quality articles is the most important thing to make money from online writing.  Articles should be accurate and add value to a topic, not just rehash what everyone already knows about a particular topic.  An important thing that many writers overlook is search engine optimizaiton (SEO).  Make sure an article is long enough and has enough key words to get a good ranking in search engines.  SEO will drive traffic to your articles in the long run, as people find them via search engines.
