Photo Copyright and Originality Question
If I was to use Photoshop to combine two or more images from the internet in such a way that it produces a new image, is this considered copyright infringement or is the image original? Thank you!
You're still using an original image and passing it as your own. If you are trying to do this I would locate the authors of both sources webpages and explain to them what you are trying to do and ask permission to use it. If they say yes save the comment, message, or e-mail to avoid any sort of legal trouble. The world is full of money hungry, sue happy people so it never hurts to be safe and not worry
Why take risks. Better link it to them both. Use sites that give pics for free
It is an infringement. However, if you search for photos which are Creative Commons Licensed and allow alteration, you can use those. There are plenty around. I find the best source is Flickr, because their advanced search has the option to tick "Creative Commons", "for commercial use" and "Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon" - so if you tick all those boxes, you know you can do what you like with the results (provided, of course, that you credit the photographers in your Hub).
I wrote a Hub about finding photos on Flickr:

Is it against copyright laws to take a photo of the cover or pictures inside my books to use in my hubs? or photos of portraits/paintings from unknown artists I have on my wall?

I'm planning a hub about one particular actor in one particular scene of a movie. Without a visual representation of the actor in the scene the article would be meaningless, but no free or non-copyrighted photos appear to exist. To me this seems a classic case for Fair Use, as reflected in this...

Is there a way the editors or ourselves can put in place protection for our published content against future copyright infringement and AI tools that take content from various sources without crediting it? Thanks.

HubPages is very firm in their rule to only use photos for which you have permission to use. Hypothetically, what happens if you break this rule? I've seen many people using images that are clearly not theirs to use and I was just wondering if this affects them in any way...

About once a week I peruse my hubs to check on traffic, comments, and just generally see how things are going. One of my hubs, "What Are The Benefits of Eating Bananas," had the copyright symbol next to it. I know from past experience that this means hubpages has found my content...
