Is it really asking too much when you enjoy a Hub to click on an interesting ad? (Block Pop Ups)

Much of our readership is our own community. We are admonished not to have same-last-name family members click on the ads (for fear of losing Google Adsense affiliaton.) So what is really left? Back links are good and anything else experience recommends. But is it really too much to ask that, if you enjoyed a Hub, you click an interesting ad on one of the Hubber's Hubs?
