Has anyone else noticed how people use the voting on answers here to vote for what they like?

Hubpages states: "Please vote up an answer if it adds to the discussion, or vote it down if it does not. You cannot flag an answer, but if an answer receives enough down votes compared to up votes, then it will become hidden." Most of the time, people vote up the answers they like, and vote down the ones they don't. I find this sad because answers that add diversity, do add to the conversation. Which I would think is the whole point. Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think about it? Do you do it?
