Well Hubpages.com IS my choice for the number one place to write.  There's no comparison, really.  Oh don't get me wrong here - I write on other sites.  I like those sites quite a lot too, but I like this site the best, and here is why:

I've got it down here.  I know just how to arrange everything on a page I'm creating...EXACTLY how I want it to be.  I think I've got all the rules figured out....finally, and I guess I'm out of the loop of moderator discontent - if such a group truly ever existed outside of my feeling slighted imagination.

With Hubpages....I truly LOVE the HP Ad program.  It's not for everyone - but it seems to work well for me.  I make payout here every month with it.  I'm pretty certain that I'd not make as much if I were just running adsense ads...but I'd have to experiment with that to know for sure, and I might just do that sooner or later.

Guess what?  Nobody but Hubpages.com gives you THAT KIND of option.

Ebay???  It's here.  It's not on Info Barrel, it's not on blogger, and so far as I know - it's nowhere else either ...outside of having your own website, and in that instance, I just don't know.  Don't care, ain't ready to mess with that kind of thing.

This site is optimized for you to sell amazon stuff, whether you know that or not.  Amazon is a tough sale, but it's pretty rewarding, exciting, and some folks flat out clean up with it...Info Barrel, another site where I write....their amazon thing....it's like they don't even want you to sell amazon - the amazon stuff is...over to the side where you can't see it, and you can't arrange it how you want to so far as products are concerned anyway.

This site is the best site.  I think I joined Whizzley or the whiz or whatever...but I'm not messing with it just yet.  I've got goals here...and they are income goals, and traffic goals.

I'd write regardless...but making money with it, or the potential to do so - is what causes me to do the best that I can, and this is the best site to do it on.

Another thing:  This place has a true COMMUNITY to it...you get to talk to/meet a ton of cool folks, and no matter who you are, you'll find loads of folks that are similar enough to you to become friends of yours, and friends can not be bought.

Ultimately, as a writer, I would like to earn an income that I could live on and be happy. I chose HubPages because of all the help they provide for beginners. Plus, HubPages makes it easy to build a recognizable portfolio that potential employers can go to and see my writing projects at a glance. I'm really happy with HubPages.

There are many reasons why I write here. The first reason is of course expressing myself and sharing my knowledge. Other reasons include getting friends from writer community,  getting fame and money ad helping others by sharing know-how.

lol I did not come to gain anything here ... interesting question for I have never thought about it ...
I write to raise awareness on issues I think are important to us all. I do not make money here or try to promote anything in particular except morals maybe ...

    Cheers!

P.S. I did gain friends though and I am thankful for that. Not something I was looking for though.

I'm trying to learn about effective SEO strategies and affiliate marketing while I write. For most of my career I've focused on long-form writing, which doesn't always translate well on the web.  Writing for the web requires a paradigm shift for those of us who aren't used to writing short-form SEO web articles.
I do want to earn money as well; get recognition; build a portfolio -- all of those things. The upshot in hanging out on HubPages, of course, is the really cool, smart, friendly and inspiring people I meet! wink

Financial freedom from the rat race of everyday life. I want to write full-time to express my opinions on the world around us. Whatever money is left over from my simple life I want to donate to causes so I can make the world a better place for all mankind, not just the ones with the most money. I think writing has the power to change the world. That is why I write on Hubpages and other sites.

I write on hubpages because of the amazing community that it is. I can write whatever I want and get honest feedback from people. I also love to answer questions because it gives me the opportunity to think outside the box...

Personally, I would like to improve as a writer, but a bit of cash would be good as well.

I wanted writing on HubPages to take the place of having a day job.  And for me it does.

Personally, I would like to earn a following with producing quality hubpages so that others can share their opinions.  Hubpages would be great as a writing site to earn extra income.  I understand that Hubpages now use PayPal which is great as well.  The PayPal Debit card increases monthly as long as the writer continues to write and produce internet traffic that increases earnings as a result.  I would like to use Hubpages as a channel to inform the internet community of everday living events as well as informational articles that generate an open  dialogue.
