The Hubs that tend to present someone's ideas about one issue or another tend to be what catch my eye. Another kind the catch my eye are people's personal experience with an issue or an event in life, and their "take" on it. Hubs about writing (but not about how to write or how to earn money writing, and instead just about writing issues in general) catch my eye. Hubs that stand out for looking like "something new and different" (in terms of writing/articles) from "the usual" subjects often catch my eye. I usually look more closely at humor Hubs. Computer-related technical tips aimed at heading off problems are something that catch my interest. Science-focused, social-issue-focused, or education-focused tend to get my attention. If it looks like some has a compelling, real-life, story I'll read it.. Plain, old, opinion- and discussion-Hubs are what I like to find if the subject is a "grown-up" one. Then again, I do tend to enjoy a good "rant-Hub", even it 's just silliness.
Titles with spelling errors, or titles that look like the person doesn't know English very well, lose it before I ever get past seeing just the title. If I get the vibes a person's profile or picture are fake "for Internet purposes" I won't read. "Fake" is a lot of easier to spot than a lot of fakes seem to realize it is. "Fake" just makes me think there's a good chance the person copied the article, so I won't read on principle.
Sometimes (rarely) something like a dessert Hub (if the dessert really catches my attention) is something I'll read.
I don't read "how-to's" (except for the technical-tips stuff).. (If don't know how to do something by now I probably have no interest in learning it anyway.) Most of the time I won't read "middle-man" researched Hubs. I can go straight to the source (and know which sources are reliable) myself. I won't read middle-man product Hubs. I can go straight to the source to buy stuff. If I'm interested in a product, site, or service I'll read reviews if the person has obviously had first-hand experience with it.'
