I enjoy having followers, yet my focus for hubs is on outside traffic. Now I'm creating niche sites so that I have full control over the financial aspects of my work and can use my own Amazon account. My outside traffic on HP, mainly from Google, continues to increase. By interlinking pages on multiple platforms it's possible to improve traffic. I avoid all the fake backlinking strategies.
When I was publishing here, there would be surges of traffic and new followers when I published new hubs -- hubber traffic ebbs and flows. Hubber traffic was rarely more than half my traffic -- and now nearly all of my traffic is from outside HP. My oldest hubs get steady Google hits. The main reason I keep my HP account is because pages ripen.
By way of comparison, I get more traffic on Blogger than HP, and that's with fewer pages and in a much shorter time span -- and with no followers, yet.
