How do you promote hubs without being annoying?
I'm not into getting money from my hubs, I just like to hear what people think of them and traffic is falling (sad little blue down arrows). How do you promote your hubs without making it seem like you just want attention and money?
I would say by posting them only once to your social networks (pins, facebook, google+ etc) and also not only sharing just stuff you write, but other things also. I am on pinterest for example, and I do pin my hubs (and it brings a lot of traffic) but I also pin other things from around the web and have my boards arranged nicely and people enjoy a variety of pins from me so it doesn't just come off as shameless self-promotion.
Same with Facebook, I may share and add a little personal note like I just wrote this hub and thought some of you might be interested in it because of x and such. Enjoy! This lets people know I am thoughtful in my writing and thinking of helping others and solving problems - not just in it for attention or whatever.
There's a fine line sometimes between genuinely helpful and "spammy"... don't cross that line and you'll be fine.
I am part of alot of communities online. I post each hub once to each society network. However, if it is a topic that is important to me or any of my groups I will send it directly to the person to runs the groups and let them send it out since their connections are vastly larger then my own.
People do take it over board by posting their hubs multiple times or sending to the same person multiple times and it almost becomes harassment.

Did you wait until you had plenty of hubs and the ad accounts activated before you started promoting your hubs or did you start promoting right away?
