How is the Hub of the day chosen?

I have read many intriguing hubs, but the hub of the day selection always seems random to me. Any idea how they are selected?

As I look back at the, the photo seems to be the most important part.

This was excellent. Thank you. I had missed it when I looked for the answer.

I wonder why the best hubs seem so often to be recipes and handicrafts. That seems pretty superficial.

Do "they" read every hub that is posted?

If hubs are selected on interesting subject matter then I suggest one has a great chance with food and recipes as those seem to be the popular choices. I know some sites don't even allow you to earn anything on recipes but they are hot on HP
