For the most part, I've always used HubPages as part of an overall, "skimmed"-time (free time, or at least time away from real work) that's part of a "whole picture" of online-writing that I use to earn extra money. I've never vented (although within the last day I've been sort of doing some venting back and forth with someone in the comments section of one Hub). Anyway, I don't vent. Some of my Hubs could look like "venting" because they're based in personal experience, but my reason for most of that kind of Hub is to try "make people aware" of something, or else try to share what dealing with one thing or another can really be like.
My approach is try to offer what I, personally, can offer; because "the world" can offer all kinds of things on one subject or another (and often better than I can). So, I go with the one thing I have to offer, which is whatever I've picked up through personal experience mixed with research/study I've done over the years, and for reasons unrelated to some specific Hubs.
On the scale of writing, there's a lot of writing/motives between just "for money only and nothing else" and "for my own venting purposes". I make my second income by writing what I want to write, and if it weren't for the fact that I do make that second income I wouldn't be writing online at all. Either way, with the exception of that very recent back-and-forth in some comments; nothing I write on here is venting. I may be trying to help someone, change the world, express an opinion, or just offer a side to a subject that is often presented in a more one-sided way; but it's never venting and it's always with the idea of earning (even if only by adding volume to the Hubs I have so that some small earners can combined with others and amount to a little something more).
