   How much time do you average researching your topic for HubPages?
   
   I find that I spend at least 3 to 4 hours reading and researching a topic before I even start to write my hub. Maybe that's why I average one hub a week. Do you have any hints or tips for speeding up the process?

   An hour. I go to different websites, possibly look it up in a book if I have one on the subject. I don't create an outline. I just write as I research.

   I spend most of my research time matching up photos to go with content.  I have had a few hubs that require some facts from research to support my writing.  But, can't say exactly how much time on average it takes.  You are right, maybe that is why it takes me so long to publish one hub.

      I try to find the perfect picture to go along with my writing and sometimes it seems to take forever. And then, there is that slight character flaw - I get distracted by some cool picture and I have to stop and check it. Down the rabbit hole I go.

   write based on your gut feeling! but nothing wrong if you want to write professional and well researched hubs!

      Thank you, cheaptoys. I try to do a combinaton of both. I start with something I know and then research it to make sure I'm current and get the latest facts. I appreciate your input.

   It depends on the topic, if I previously know anything about it and how long of a hub I am writing. How I write varies on the day, most times I am with Iburmaster, I write as I research my topic. Other days I'll write down bullet points for my topic as I find them, and then go back flesh out the bullet points and add additional information. I'll read different articles on several websites and often watch youtube videos about my topic if they are available. It takes me 4-6 hours to research, write, gather photos and post a hub. Tips for speeding up the process, scan through rather than completely read articles for your topic. Decide what points you want to write about first and find an article that covers each point, so you can quickly gather the information you need to write your hub.

   It varies. Sometimes a hub will be fully formed in my head.  I just have to write it down. Other times it can take weeks to gather the facts that I require, to support the hubs ideas. I wrote a hub on the inequality of women's pay and it took me almost 2 months to find the information that I needed.

      Thank you, molometer! I thought I was the only slow hubber. I guess it all depends on available time, resources and personal writing style. Good thing we don't have a book like mechanics do that states how long a job will take. I'd be fired.

   I have to agree with Molometer...it depends on the hub.  I've written hubs that I've spent five or more hours researching and other's I didn't have to research at all.  It's not a matter of quality, but subject matter.  Like book reviews, I don't research them but I do read the book, does that count?

      Of course books reviews count! Sometimes, those can be the hardest things to write about.
