Why not try out for the Hubpages Educational Program for Talented Writers? If you have another site where you write, you can include that. They are paying $6 per hub. I didn't start off making much, but then again I really didn't know what I was doing. (I still kind of don't know, but I'm learning.)

I hope you take it one day at a time. You might also want to ask about it in the forums. Especially target the highest paid/viewed hubbers and see if they have any suggestions.

The Google Penguin update that happened in February was an algorithm adjustment that wound up reducing traffic for webpages that had a lot of low quality links.  Given how many unrelated links all your Hubs seem to have, that's probably a major factor in your loss of earnings.

I lost 50% of traffic after the February update and my earnings went significantly down. However, I don't think the link pattern has much to do with - it's the topics and the quality of my hubs so - extreme hub makovers are my next step.

I have recently been making more. Kind of an upsurge.

It's not complicated to make money sir_tallest, its about quality hubs and consistency. I am still making money and have only written one article. You have to also interact more with the community. Keep your head up and if you are having issues about money, start revising your hubs and run them through grammarly.com, word spell check, and look at the length of your hubs. Add more pics, videos, etc and you will do just fine. smile

Well, I can only answer for myself, but I know that my articles are for me and those who enjoy my writing style. I have never been one to seek out SEOs or all of the other hoopla in trying to make money on this site. My philosophy has and is, if it happens it happens and if it doesn't it doesn't. Again, that is just the way I approach things here. Perhaps others are more ambitious in their quest for fame and fortune and that's okay.

Like some of the others said, I've been making more recently.  If you're getting frustrated, take a break for a while then come back!

I have made more money this month than ever, and I don't know the reason. I think it may be that I have more hubs -  32 hubs so that does not mean a lot of money, but more is better. All my hubs that were on page 1 are still there. Right now, traffic is going down some, so we shall see what happens. I just go from day to day with no expectations other than my enjoyment of writing.

I agree with everyone here. It fluctuates.
In the last few months since the penguin update my earnings have improved considerable.
I too have only written one hub this month as I wanted to see the effect of the 19 th April Google update.
I guess I got lucky because my pageviews have gone up. My earnings and eBay sales have improved too.
Looking good so far. Hope you find an answer in this mixed bag of comments.
I do write on a wide variety of topics too.
I am convinced this helps with finding a much wider audience. Hope this helps.

I have noticed over the last two months my views per hub have gone up drastically. Some days are better than others, but for the most part I have been doing pretty well and things seem pretty steady. I would say just keep at it and it will eventually start going your way.

I have actually had better income over the past weeks, so I have no answer for that!  Good luck!

My views have gone down to almost nothing in the past three months. I was seeing on average of $15.00 per month on here and now I am lucky to see $3.00.

Some things that have happened that I think caused this drop are:
1.) I was plagiarized heavily by several people and am still having issues in getting them to take down the infringing content.

2.) I have had less time to be as active as I was previously on HubPages.

3.) Some other Hubs have been written in niches that I was previously almost alone in. (Very good ones mind you).

I believe that all of these factors multiplied by 'murphy's law' is the bulk of my problem, however it was a very abrupt change.

My only plan at this point is to keep at it and make sure that I never give up my enjoyment of writing no matter how little time I have. I love this community too much to give up on it.

    Cheers!!
