Do you write for sites other than Hubpages?
Do you write for other content sites or just Hubpages? How many different sites do you write for and which ones do you like best?
When it comes to writing on other sites besides my own, my favorite site to write on is HubPages. From time to time (like maybe once every three months when I remember) I may add an extra article to Factoidz. I'd like to get back to adding some more articles to Constant Content. Other than that, tried Bukisa, Triond, Xomba and Helium, but they no longer interest or attract me. My favorite place to add new articles to is to my own sites - I earn more from my own sites than from writing sites.
I only earn more from one of my sites, and it's a commercial site where I sell actual products and ship them. I wish I could earn something from my blogs, but I don't have time to keep up with them as I should. I use them primarily for back links.
I've done a few articles at Yahoo Contributor Network...they pay a few bucks up front plus another buck or two per 1000 views.
I also put stuff on my own sites.
But right now I'm focusing on HP. There's already a strong community with plenty of in-house traffic, and they carry some authority with Google, so your hubs actually have a chance at ranking and getting some search traffic.
I tried publishing two of my original, unpublished articles on Triond, and their system automatically rejected them both as being "previously published". Say what? Their so-called customer support rerouted me to a help forum, where I saw literally thousands of writers complaining about the same thing. So, I've never bothered to try them again.
Certainly I write for a number of content sites. I don't believe one should ever keep all one's eggs in one basket. I started at Squidoo, and then found HubPages. Those are still my two favorite sites where I invest most of my time. Currently HubPages gives me more income.
I also write for some of the newer sites like Zujava, NetLeeks, Wizzley, and LoveBlinks. I have a few articles at Qondio, but have never made a nickel there and I don't invest time into it anymore. From time to time I contribute at Gather, but it doesn't generate income in the same way and it's really more of a social network. I write and contribute photos there sometimes, but have to stay away most of the time because it can be addicting.
I try to stay current on Squidoo and HubPages, updating when necessary and participating actively in commenting and other activities the sites promote (such as answering questions like this on HubPages.) I plan to gradually build the number of articles I have on the newer sites when I have more time. They all have good features, but there just isn't enough of me to keep putting content on other sites when I can't keep up with my own websites and blogs.

I just left a thread where the main complaint was that squidoo writers were going to bring the quality down. But what surprises me is not the complaining but the lack of analysis of the big picture. I started on hubpages years ago and left because of the articles that were being posted....

I often see forum posts about how the site is 'dying', or asking why people would continue writing here after they've earned success on their own websites. So I thought I'd start a thread about WHY people still write here. To start, here are some of my reasons (I haven't written much in the past...
