How many hubs should one share at the most for it not to appear as spamming to one's followers?

Do you sahare hubs everyday? How many hubs do you share on a daily basis?

I never share. When I comment on a hub my followers can see it. I only comment on good hubs so automatically the good ones are shared.

My opinion on this is that one should share other hubber's hubs only, never your own. Even then, only when you genuinely think that your followers will appreciate it.

Your followers will be notified of your new hubs anyway, so there is no need to use the share facility in that way.

You will promote yourself on hub pages far more effectively by being an active member of the community, being honest and seeking to support and promote others than by overt self-promotion, which is not really appropriate in hubland.

In terms of sharing other people's hubs, just do it whenever you genuinely think something is worth sharing and you shouldn't need to keep count.

    Hope that helps.

When I want to share others' hubs, I find that the newly designed hubs don't have the share button. Yet, I read a few comments on such hubs that it has been shared. How is this done? I am confused. Any ideas please?

People are lying, they don't actually share it... However like I said, when you comment on a hub, your followers can see it.

There is a black 'share' button at the bottom of all hubs, just above the comments. When you click that, you have the option to share socially (ie facebook, reddit etc.) and 'share with followers'.  Iobobrandon is incorrect.

I see only the following on "newly designed" hubs.

      RATE: Useful (4) / Funny  / Awesome (2) / Beautiful  / Interesting (1)
      Comments
The old pages do have the 'share button' but the new ones don't.

That seems mysterious to me. I have only been a hubber for 5 weeks and all my hubs have the share button. It may be that people are missing it because it doesn't look quite the same as a previous version?

I will share my own rarely.  I think it is too "self-promoting".  If I've had a Hub that was written long ago, and I just updated it in some way to  improve it, I may share that with my followers.  I get tired of seeing some Hubbers share their own work;  sometimes once or twice a day!

If I read a Hub that I think is outstanding in some way, I will share that to FB and to my followers, and I let the author know I have done that.

If I read a Hub that a new Hubber has done a good Hub with a lot of effort and research, I will share that one with followers.  I think that helps a new person to get some traffic and maybe some followers.

I agree about sharing new Hubber's Hubs.  If a new Hubber writes quality Hubs, I think that is a good idea to help them get known by sharing.

Yes, I agree Mary that one's own hubs need not be shared. They'll be in the feed when published as well as in the notifications to the followers.

I thought sharing was instant, as it would appear in the activity 'feed'. I'm kind of pro-active in that I actually look for newer hubs. I'll also look for the new hubs by my followers just as much as those I follow.

I can only think of one time I shared a hub. I think its when someone asked 'what do you think is your best hub'. I wasn't really looking for anyone to read it. I misunderstood the question. I figured out later one they wanted to know which hubs had the most views. I assumed they thought it was the one I was the most passionate about.

Actually gabgirl, I should have stated sharing hubs of other hubbers - not one's own. Sorry for not clarifying this in the question.

I've shared other hubs FB. Sometimes I will 'like' someone's hub or tweet it. That's the limit for me, and not often. I use the tools I'm already given. And of course if I share a hub of someone I'll usually let them know by posting a comment.

I agree with both whowas and mary615 comments.

When we post a new hub our followers are notified. Spamming your own followers is a big no no in my book. It just doesn't work and makes people mad.

Similarly when we comment on hubs that too, shows up in the feed.
I do rarely share other hubbers, hubs that I think my followers would benefit from reading. Usually I only share about 1-3 other hubbers hubs per week with my followers. I share many many many more hubs on the social networks from my followers. And my followers share my hubs on the social networks too. As you and I have also done together. This we know works much better.

I have shared one of my own hubs many months ago, but it was on a medical matter and the dangers of snoring. I just wanted to warn as many people about what I had discovered as quickly as possible. I would do the same again tomorrow if such news came to my attention.

Great question Rajan and as always a pleasure to contribute something.

There is only enough space on the feed to show a few feeds, so if you share more than one thing, one right after another, you are taking up a disproportionate amount of space on the feed.

You may want to space out your shares so they don't appear one right after another.  This also helps make sure you are being selective in what you share, and it doesn't look like you are sharing everything you read.

Some people follow a great number of Hubbers, forum topics, answer topics, etc.  Others only follow a select few.  For those who only have a few, even if you wait hours to post the second share, your shares will still appear one right after another.

For that reason, I try to limit my shares to once a day, although usually it is much less than that.  I share elsewhere - on Facebook, StumbleUpon, on my hubs, so that I can avoid the spamming feeling. I also try to add variety by sharing other things besides hubs.

Others have said that your comments show up on your follower's feeds. I don't think that is true - I think it shows up on your feed because you are following the hub, and will only show up on other Hubbers who are also following that hub.

I agree millionaire tips, sharing should be spaced and only the excellent or helpful ones be shared. Thanks.

I share hubs that leave me feeling very impressed with the way the subject is written or provides me with such useful or interesting information that I want to share it. I don't think about the number of hubs I am sharing but I do consider whether I am sharing a quality hub or not. Good question Rajan Jolly!
