Is squidoo more popular than hubpage?

How are you defining "more popular?"

Both sites have certain similarities (being user-generated content sites) and if you talk to users of the two sites, you'll find some who have a preference for one over the other, while some people find they are happy to work with either.

For traffic and audience, Quantcast currently gives Squidoo a rank of 72 while HubPages is ranked at 81, so according to those stats, Squidoo is slightly more popular.

I looked at google rankings a couple of months ago and was surprised that Squidoo ranked 7 while hubpages was ranked 6.  That might suggest that Squidoo is more popular. I took a look at Squidoo and personally I prefer hubpages. Squidoo use "lenses" for articles - they seem to meander on forever sometimes and contain everything but the kitchen sink. Can't say I looked at many, so maybe I'm being unfair, but I like to be able to see an article as a whole and for it to have a structure. I also understand they pay writers different amounts depending on their usage of the site and their rank as a Squidoo writer. I don't think that's fair. Not that I earn anything on hubpages - it's the principle of the thing:)

Hubs can meander on forever and sometimes contain everything but the kitchen sink too.  The Squidoo payment system rewards lenses that earn the most traffic, it's not about how much you use the site.  I know, I earn very well there.

Thanks for telling me that, relache.  Do you find it easier to earn on Squidoo?

I find it different earning on Squidoo, not really easier or harder.

I write on both sites, although I discovered HubPages first. It really depends on the writer, but I find that I can be more creative and fun when writing Squidoo lenses because of the different modules. I love it that you can have different designs for your lenses on Squidoo too! ^_^
