It is a great venue to blow off steam after listening to the latest political buzz on the news and to write about things that are on my mind - the "money" part of it is trivial for me. I've read that some hubbers do well with making enough money to supplement their income with their hubs - maybe someday I will write more to earn than to unwind.

I can concur with that. Blowing off steam through writing is a great idea.

I like that style. I don't get to be on this a lot, but it is nice to voice my thoughts for sure. The side money isn't a bad deal.

Great question! More people simply use the hub pages for fun than most people realize. I'm one of these people that's here just for fun, and I always get on the hub pages after along hard day at work in the real world. Keep on hubbing  smile

I see it as something in between.

It's not a job. Any job that I put this much work into that paid this little I wouldn't be doing for very long.

Since money is involved I'm not too sure that I can just call it a hobby. For some people it obviously is a hobby. There are many who don't care if they ever make a dime. I think most of us are here though because we want to earn from our writtings. If this wasn't the case a simple notebook would do.

For me, I do want to earn but I also see hubpages as a way to improve my writting. If I keep writting here and I pay attention to what people respond to I can learn from that and improve.

I use it as a hobby. If you can make plenty of money on hubpages, congradulations. But that seems like you would have to live on here to make $50 a month.

That would be pretty crazy if it was 50% both ways but I guess it is always possible

That half the people on HubPages are doing it as a job. I would figure it would be much less as it is hard to get a steady income from it initially.

Hobby. I get paid for writing as my full-time job, this is a fun hobby (that brings in a buck or two now and then).
