    Rajan,
This is a great question, and I wish I could give you the best answer.  What has worked a little bit for me is having other hubbers with lots of followers sharing my hubs or linking their hubs to my hubs.  I think you also have to be an opportunist and be aware of what is trending in the news and having articles which people consider to be hot at the time.  A hub in memory of my father did very well for about one week during Father's Day in June.  Good luck in getting more traffic to your hubs.

This is a tricky question to answer because as I see it traffic on the internet falls into three categories:

    1. Short term trending - a hot topic, a big sporting/international event/news  where journalistic type hubs can gain a tremendous amount of views in a matter of hours/days then fade sharply away. So, catch the wave and go to google trends and try to write short sharp hubs that are cutting edge, then spread them on social sites!

    2. Medium term - includes seasonal and recipe/travel hubs that bring in traffic over say, a six month maximum. Any topic will do as long as it's relevant to the season/calender event/festival.

    3. Long term - the evergreen hubs on any topic that are sustainable and hold the attention of the reader.

Promotion of a hub is almost as important as content and quality - this is unfortunate but is the nature of the internet and the ranking process - so good quality links, SEO, tags and summary, posting on blogs/forums/social networks and regular updates are all important.
    I do hope this helps.
    The very best of luck.

Hi Rajan, I have been trying Ezine articles with a back link to the hub and it seems to have picked up my traffic. I have just started, but google loves ezine articles because they are hand-edited and doesn't provide pay for services, but does let you give info (a minimum of 500 words) to the search engines. I use google blogger and have had success on my website from that, I also add links to my articles from Reddit, Digg, Delicious and I can't remember the other ones offhand. I am new with 4 months under my belt so maybe these can give you some ideas. Love you hubs Rajan and Write on!
