What will you choose? More traffic or more comments?
Would you rather choose more traffic on your hubs rather than comments? I mean you got high stats but a little comment or half the stats with more comment?
More traffic means more money, more comments means more content which means.........not necessarily more money. You can actually lose traffic from comments if they are irrelevant or if people place irrelevant links in them.
So conclusion..............................
Give me more traffic any day!
comments help to enhance your pr and also its help to increase the traffic for you. If some one spamming into the comment do not allow them to get comment there.
Sometimes it's not spam but a legit hubber may go off topic. I do not allow any sort of irrelevant conversations or links in my comment. Also, visitors outside HP hardly leave comments anyway and that's where most of the earnings come from.
I like both, but the traffic is the goal in branding your writing.
More traffic.... The reason being is the more traffic you receive, the more comments you are likely to get as well. Plus it also helps monetarily. So more traffic is a win, win situation.
This is a good question, as traffic and comments come from separate sources, and are achieved by different tactics in creating a hub. (We learned about this in the Apprenticeship Program.)
If you are focused on making money, then go for traffic, particularly from Google, which improves your SEO, your placing high on Google's organic searches. This is what I do with most of my hubs. (Many of my most successful hubs have very few comments because people searching on Google tend to be readers, not writers.)
I like comments, too. Writing is not all about making money or even about being read a lot. I want to make a difference in people's lives, to help them grow and learn, and, ideally, to hear about them doing it. These are very important to me personally. Writers - that is, Hubbers - tend to write comments. So articles that do well on HubPages when Hubbers go looking are a great way to get lots of comments. I did a lot of that early on, but this was not allowed during the Apprenticeship Program.
In my life as it is, most of my hubs focus on traffic and income, though I also hope they make a difference. A few focus on comments, relationship, and community building. As I stabilize a sufficient income, I'll be doing more of these. Making a difference and growing community is, for me, ultimately what it's all about.
Both are important, but I would definitely rather have more views because of the financial aspect. Oddly, some of my most viewed hubs have a relatively small amount of comments, while other less viewed hubs have more comments.
More traffic.. but I do love the comments... I am greedy I want both..
Merry Christmas
High traffic numbers are good, but don't always mean more money. I have read that Google also places a high value on "engagement" and comments would usually indicate the viewers are motivated enough by your content to leave a comment.
My Hub with the highest number of views is also the one with the most comments because I believe I hit a nerve among one or two segments of the viewers.
Since only a tiny percentage of visitors take the time to comment, a higher number of comments would also imply more viewers at the same time. So, I would lean toward having more comments if I had the choice.
Thanks, Spy, for the thought-provoking question.
I think it depends on how established you are. Since I'm relatively new, I haven't made any money and have a long way to go before I make payout. So for now, I like getting comments because it validates that I'm on the right track by getting thoughtful suggestions, critiques, and feedback via comments. The more I learn and the more support I receive, the more traffic I'll get in the longrun.
More traffic.. but I do love the comments. only traffic and without exchanging own views is really boring....
I prefer more comments as it works like a feedback for our hubs. As long as I am not in hubs to make money but to express my views to the world, all I need is 'Feedback'.
I like comments. If we get more traffic the comments will automatically increase. So for more comments more traffic is needed. I think both are related.
i always choose more traffic because if i have more traffic then i have more peoples to comments.
I feel the feedback of comments is very helpful as is the traffic..both are I feel important...It is also an affirmative to whether my articles and subjects are interesting to others..as some subjects we as writers may feel are good, may or may not be enough to interest others..just a thought...

I have been a member of HubPages for seven months. I have read hubbers with less membership who have more than 1,200 followers. How is that possible? And how can I attract more followers to my "little world" in HubPages?

Earlier I posted that people should go and make links going to other sites that do not belong to you nofollow. Then someone mentioned that if your hubber score is less than 85 then "every link" will be nofollow. But this is not what HubPages says. HubPages says:"If your HubberScore...
