Is it a good idea to break up my long and well performing hubs into two or more?

I notice that most of my well performing hubs are long ones about literature. Would I be able to boost earning potential if I broke these into two or three hubs? Some of these articles and essays are over 1,000 words and some about 1,500.

If you feel they can stand alone as possibly Featured Hubs, it might be a very good choice. In addition, adding backlinks and descript summaries will boost relevance in search engine and traffic. Theoretically it should boost traffic because with additional media and well-written hubs, each hub will be a good source of revenue.

Revamping a current hub is always helpful in getting SEO's attention. Add backlinks, exrtra info, photo, etc.  Breaking them up into two may help if it is over 1500 words, make sure your group them.

I wouldn't do that.  If the hubs are performing well, why would you change anything?  Dividing them into two sections won't necessarily bring more views, and it might ruin a good thing.

Interesting. I was hoping it would be like a "to be continued" and I could get more views by them reading the remaining sections in a new hub.

I would think 1,500 would be the limit.  There are people who 'browse' hubs and if they're too long people move on.  If they are interesting and long, but not too long, people will hang around and read them.  I hope that made sense.

If they are doing well now, I wouldn't mess with them.

It is better not to opt for re edit or redesign as it will take time to get published again. Intensity of key words in existing hub may be divided into thin intensity in multiple hubs and may effect revenue via e-bay, amazon and adsense. If you have to divide a number of your Hubs you can try it with one of lowest performing hub to compare by your own experience. It will be worth it.

I like the idea of trying with a lower performing hub first. Thanks.

Where did you learn that re edits may need time to be republished?  I re edit old hubs and sometimes even the design layouts and it never has affected me negatively.  Edited featured hubs stay featured.  I don't split them into two hubs, though.
