The approve or deny button..what is required?

Does one's comment need to be approved before it can be seen? Or can it be seen until it is denying by the author? This is kind of like the "why ask a question and delete the answer?" question. I'm asking because the SAME person has deleted my comments on several of his hubs where he is writing as an authority on a subject he knows very little about (on examination of several of his hubs on the same topic) where I was being polite. I will have to laugh if he has - as it says more about him than it does about me.

I do have hubs on these topics. I politely stated that one should not write topics as an authority if one is not part of the community he is writing misinformation about as fact. Didn't like it I guess!

Respectively, the author has to approve all comments.
