Why didn't I get approved for an adsense account?

Why didn't I get approved for an adsense account?  I am new to hubpages (started about five days ago) and waited to apply until I had the recommended ten hubs.  However, I got declined because my material does not meet their "standards."  Not sure what that means, but can someone help me out?

    Hello Amanda,
I know it can be so frustrating. I recommend that you read this article about Google Adsense:

Ok, thank you.  That is helpful. So, I should write about 5-10 more articles and try again? Will it work against me that I have already applies?  Also, what about blogger.com?

Yes, I would wait until you have done exactly that. No, it will not count against you. smile Good luck!

Also, how do I "improve" my profile?

I meant portfolio. As in your articles. Maybe that was redundant... In any case, you might want to rethink your approach. You should focus on writing quality hubs as well as staying active in the community rather than striving for AdSense approval.

Well, I heard that some people need to wait for at least a month or two before actually applying for AdSense. Personally I have waited for 3 weeks before applying for AdSense but still, I'm not approved yet. Also, to be safe, have at least 15 hubs so that you can have a better chance at getting approved.

Google has upped its standards due to the high volume of applications. I have heard that people with even 20 or so quality hubs are being rejected. The problem could also be your lack of page views. As a beginner, I would advise you to wait for your material to become more established. It takes time for your hubs to start showing up in search engines (it's at that point that you get google's attention).

I waited two years before applying for AdSense and connecting it with my HubPages account and I was accepted right away for my patience. I'm afraid you are just going to have to be patient as well and work on improving your profile.

I recommend some serious networking. Participating in the HubPages community can be just as important as consistent hub writing. Unless you are extremely lucky, you are not going to be an overnight success here. Make a daily habit of reading and commenting on other hubs to get an idea of what makes a hub good so that you will be able to improve the quality of your own. You also need to get a sense for the most effective keywords and write on unique topics to get as much traffic flow from search engines as possible. You should also make a habit of seeking out hubbers who write on topics you are interested in and start following them. This is another way to get noticed as well as showing support for your fellow community members.

Success on HubPages often takes a lot more than top notch hub writing, you need to be able to contribute to the community as well in order to make a name for yourself here.
