What do you feel when someone unfollow you?

Do you also think of reasons why someone unfollowed you? For example you have 245 followers then after a day you only got 241.. Do you feel sad or hurt?

I am still new here, but I intentionally don't pay attention to how many followers I have on a regular basis. I care about my followers. but I know that some people have reasons for unfollowing someone, and I don't want to take it personally when it does happen to me. If I happened to notice someone I really liked wasn't following me any more, I would feel bad, and probably go into "overthinking" mode. It is easy to think all kinds of reasons, which could result in self-doubt. If there was a dramatic drop in followers, I would definitely feel hurt,

Not as much as when someone unfriends me on Facebook. smile  Even though I don't follow many people yet, I know I have unfollowed folks because of changes in their writing style, or over-frequent publication that seems to be cluttering my notifications, that sort of thing. Also, you can't tell if someone just closed their account and left HubPages, which would have nothing to do with you either.

I never feel sad or hurt if they unfollow me. I imagine there are followers who violate the rules and get banned from Hubpages.

There might be followers that quit their Hubpages profile and there are those who don't like my Hubs anymore.

Whatever their reason might be....Writing is about passion and sharing it with those who are REALLY interested:-)

I honestly don't keep very careful track of who's following me, so the only way I'd notice is if I lost a whole chunk of followers at once.

yeah..a whole chunk would definitely be nopticeable

I feel nothing at all if someone decides to unfollow my writing. There could be any number of reasons why this happens, and I've got better things to do with my time--like writing quality content--than worry about trivialities of being unfollowed.

Yes, I would feel like there is something that I am doing wrong. I would try to figure out if I'm doing something different that might set someone off. unknown spy have you written anything recently that might make someone feel uncomfortable such as a type of hub topic? I, as a follower, should check it out.

not as i know of Marie.. but it could be one reason, maybe the type of one's writing doesnt match the likes of her/his follower smile

It doesn't bother me if someone unfollows me, I am fine with such situations, but have recently noticed the increase in followers.

    unknown spy.....
Writing is a personal thing..it is an extension of who we are..not necessarily in the physical sense but the mental and spiritual ( energy )..so when people become followers( visiting your hubs on a regular basis ) leaving positive comments and then just all of a sudden drop off , but are still on HP and writing...how can we not take it personal ? If they no longer enjoy my hubs. I would like to know their reason..perhaps we could all learn a lesson, with " critiques "..I have tried to vary my subjects and genre..and seem to have lost a number of readers lately... what I would call
" friends of words "...found this question to be helpful..thanks..look forward to answers...

been reading some answers KJ, and many hubbers say that they dont take it personally..but i think if you noticed that a number of hubbers unfollwed you, you keep wondering why and would really want to know the reason. smile i feel sad though

I don't pay much attention.  One  time I lost several followers because of a forum . While they quit following me they couldn't get rid of me because we were following the same forum.  I don't try to infuriate people and eventually the important followers came back.

I don't think about it. I also unfollow. Out with the old, in with the new. I don't take it personal. You'll soon find for every unfollow you get, you gain twice as many new followers. Whether it's on HP, FB or Twitter. It's all good Spy! smile

I don't think I would even know if someone did unfollow me; I don't keep up with that and never have. I sometimes unfollow someone if they start writing in a style I just am not interested in and then lately I unfollowed someone who just kept my email filled with hubs they posted, like ten at a time, maybe more, but it was keeping my email filled and I didn't particularly like the writings and this person did not visit my hubs anymore so I chose to unfollow. I do wonder if someone has unfollowed me if I don't see them for awhile but I don't worry about it, it doesn't hurt me. I love making new friends and it is just sort of like growing here as with my writing. Some people follow me that never comment on my writings but then that explains the readings being much higher than comments. That pleases me.

The only time I really notice that someone has 'unfollowed' me is at those milestones, 399 followers and waiting for that 400,.. yes... 401... 399 Hee hee
But I wouldn't worry or take it personally, I know I have unfollowed a few recently simply because they no longer write what I am interested in and it means a few less notifications in my 'in-box'.
Some people only have a certain amount of time so they cut down to a manageable number and  just read hubs from certain people or certain topics.
Plus you get those who join and follow everyone and anyone in hopes of getting followers, they then realise their mistake and will unfollow several at once.
There are many reasons why people unfollow, its cool

I usually wonder who unfollowed me and why, but then I let it go.  I've unfollowed a couple of people because their hubs just didn't interest me.  If that's why I get unfollowed, I certainly can't argue with the logic.

I will be sad and hurt of course but I will tell myself that I have to understand why they unfollow me.  maybe there is something wrong with the way i write.  anyway, it's their prerogative to unfollow me.
