Obvious spam content followed by abusive language are my two top triggers.
Three hundred poorly written words and a picture....are hardly content I think worthy of this website. If someone wants to do that, they can do that on Blogger...
That all said, I basically stopped flagging things. I don't see the need to flag anything if the Hubpages "quality assessment" software is working the way they designed it to work.
I haven't flagged anyone here. But poor formatting, wrong grammar, spamming, very short hubs are some of the reasons for which they get flagged. And then as JimTxMiller said, abusive or derogatory language and content should be flagged.
If somebody publishes a hub about sexual content, illegal substance abuse, or does not have substance to it, it makes me flag it. I'm sorry, but if somebody tries to publish a hub and all I see is a list of programs attached to it and it does not have real structure or any paragraphs, i go to flagging while hub hopping.
Poorly written, incorrect grammar, and blog entries are my pet peeves. I will also flag articles that are short and generic with no real value or quality.
If it is utter nonsense language wise, like some of the questions here, or as MarieAlana1 said, sexual content. Also I will flag Hubs that are promoting their own product or company. For example the user's name might be JohnDoe Medical, and the Hub might be about some medical product put out by JohnDoe Medical.
I've only ever had to flag a hub once and it was because of the content - basically it was a hate campaign against another person - the word 'hate' actually being used several times. In addition the swear words used made me blush - and I can tell you, I don't blush easily! So I did flag this hub.
Nothing I'm not high enough on my horse to actually believe I have any right to judge somebody else's thoughts or writing. Honostly this is why I spend far less time here than I used to, this site is full of pretentious hypocrite who actually feel they are above others and have a right to judge. Bottom line if it offends you or you don't like it then don't read their work, is it really necessary to throw in your kick knowing that Adsense and hubpages are already going to kill the persons dreams and ambitions? Just my thoughts, I don't believe I've ever been flagged but I have read some really interesting hubs with bad grammar and cursing, but Ive read even more really bad, meaningless or boring hubs without a single error.
Very obviously spun hubs and poorly translated hubs, usually written by someone who always seems to have joined 5 hours ago always jump out at me.That and 50 word hubs with 12 links.:-)
Anything which is not sensible is to be designated as "Non-Sense". But I have never come across any such Hub or comments which deserve to be flagged.
Lucky you.5 minutes in the hub hopper never fails to throw up some truely poor contributions.
I very rarely flag a hub. Very poor or broken English or obviously spun content would cause me to flag, also blatant spam.
I don't hub hop much, but the only thing I ever flagged was due to obviously spun content. I don't see anything wrong with writing hubs as a form of content marketing, but spun content is spam and not content marketing.
If it's just poorly written or not very useful, I'd rate it down, but it would have to be truly atrocious for me to flag something just for the writing.
And I'd agree with JThomp that I would flag something that is straight up copied, if I knew that it was copied.
I found all the comments very interesting. I myself have never flagged any Hubs, I don't think that I would. Writing is so subjective, so personal. I understand flagging something that you know has been copied, but to judge someone based on their skill - I just don't think that that is right.

Do you often flag content on HubPages?I see a few hubs everyday that are in English, but poorly written. I hate to flag a hub if someone is just trying to start on HP, but I don't like reading poorly written hubs! What are your thoughts?

Holy cow! I've been hub hopping and looking through a few freshly written hubs today and I am blown away by the low quality! The thought hadn't even crossed my mind before now to add "flagging" to my list of things to do while hanging out at HP as part of my daily ritual. I'm...

The question of whether poetry Hubs should have 400-word minimums came up in this thread a few minutes ago:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/70203#post1528809I've been puzzling about what to do with poetry Hubs I've found while hopping. I haven't flagged any of them, because poetry is a unique...

Do you think it is important to comment on a hub if you have read it?I've read that some hubber's read hubs but do not leave comments. On person said be assured I read your hubs even when I don't comment. I don't get it. I think it is courtesy to comment if you read someone's...

Do you think Hubpages should take a harder stance to poorly written hubs?I hop hubs when I can, and find so many that are of poor quality. They have little to no content, or just one long text block. Don't get me started about the spelling or grammar.Should HP take more of a harder...

Is hubpages in danger of being over-run by writers from India who can't write proper English? I went to a hubpages question yesterday, and half the answers were from Indian hubbers who didn't understand the question but felt compelled to answer it anyway. It's not just answers. More than half of the...
