How can I make a hub that is 194 words and five pictures into an acceptable hub? Is it possible?
I want to write a hub about views of the ocean offered at health clubs from around the world and yet I have only a handful of photos and 194 words is sadly where I am at. I don't wish to publish poor quality. How can I upgrade this hub that I feel needs to be heard and seen?
My first thought is to add words to captioning on the pictures; strange, it can add a lot of text to the article, and also search engines can find it. Other than that maybe think about all the angles on the subject; the beauty of the ocean, what it's like to be near the ocean, the effect it has on working out, etc.
NateB11 has suggested photo captions. They are essential for your slideshow to make sense. However, photo captions do not count toward the total number of words for HupbPages, so you won't see that number grow. But 194 words, short as it is, won't necessarily condemn the hub. It may receive a computer generated warning, but that won't automatically prevent it from being featured unless a human rates or moderates it.
Maybe include statistics or other interesting information (what else is awesome about these places besides the view?) to get your word count up over 500. I think that's the mimimum amount you should have for an informational Hub.
I would try adding more details to the hub. Perhaps you can cover some topics such as:
Reasons for joining a health club
Reasons for visiting the ocean
How different oceans vary
Places to visit outside of the health clubs
Staying healthy while at the beach
List many health clubs at the ocean
Describe each health club in detail
I hope that helps. Good luck to you!

Creating a pleasant reading experience depends on many factors. If we just look at word counts, what can we get? Personally, internet reading for me is more for leisure. I do remember I would lose patience myself if the reading material is a little bit too long even if I am interested in the topic....

I have been playing with some different layouts as to where I have been putting the photos, amazon ads, and etc. I don't have a lot of traffic. I'm starting to learn about marketing, keywords, and SEO. Even so, I don't have a way to judge how people are perceiving the hubs as far as eye appeal. You...

I've had links to my own related hubs snipped on several occasions (mostly blatant lists at the end of a hub), but some links have been left in place after several snips. So is it acceptable to include a link to a hub which may be very relevant to the specific content in a section of a hub, if it...

Now don't get me wrong, I totally love writing on Hubpages and being a part of the Hubbing community, but I have lost a little heart recently when one hub of mine on "How to Improve Male Fertility" had the ads disabled based on automatic filters. This problem I reported in order to have...

In light of the Google algo change, it is now obvious and confirmed that hub-hopping is VERY important. I feel that if you publish here, you should hub hop when you can. As it should hopefully increase our revenue and hopefully take this hubpages back to the top, where it belongs. The problem is...

I understand why HB likes longer articles, and on some subjects it's easy to reach 700, 800, or more words. Sometimes though, I say everything I want to say on a topic and I'm done at between 450 and 600 words. Trying to add more text to reach the recommended minimum of 700 makes the hub look......
