OK. Select a magazine or newspaper you know about or really like. Read it through and make notes about the way the articles are written and formatted. Say to yourself - Could I write better articles than this, or create interesting angles on topics? If you're confident you could draft an article, write an email to the editor and suggest some ideas for consideration, together with your draft article.
Be persistent. Try and come up with good, solid ideas, realistic. Or bright new ones based on your own writings.
This is what I did when I got some of my articles published in journals in the UK - the trick is to keep trying, because often you email the editors and they just don't reply. They are busy people! The bottom line is, if you're a good writer and want to succeed or at least get your work published STAY ON TRACK, hang in there, send out your work and try not to annoy editors with the wrong sort of stuff!!!
Best of luck.
