Is there a right or wrong way to wash chicken eggs?

Just wondering if it hurts rinsing them or should they just be wiped. I know there are special cloths you can buy for that now but is that necessary?

Yes I do remember that vinegar Mix Bejabbers now that you mention it. I guess I was just wondering if running water over eggs would be bad for them. My three chicks always lay such clean looking eggs I just use a damp cloth over them before storing.
