Has anyone grown potatoes on top of straw? Or maybe under?

I read something about this a couple of years ago and tried it but nothing worked. It was claimed the potatoes would grow right under or on top the straw. Anyone heard of this?

Mm, I wondered. I have buried old sprouting potatoes and had pretty good luck compared to the straw. Just wondered if there was a secret. Maybe my ground was not rich enough. Thanks!

Yes I got you. I have hay and chickens! Greatest compost there. Hope you get to try those potatoes...and me too!

I use to too and that probably is best but I am not able to dig like I use to so am hoping for an easier way.
