I have one doing that and I think it has hit every window in the house. I have heard superstitious reasons for this but I would like a real answer here. I mean it looks to me like it would eventually kill itself. What could be the reason for this?

I thought it may be seeing his reflection but today is cloudy and all sides of the house would not be the same brightness even at that. I don't have an owl which I looked up and saw recommended but I put solid white poster board with small results.
Maybe draw one of these owl faces
on each side of the cardboard, first with a pe
Thank you RT; better yet I will just print some off!
Using different ones will let you turn the board--maybe another raptor. Also, I think a rubber snake on the window sill might do the trick. You would just need to move him around every day between the ground and sill maybe.
He wasn't around today or not at the windows; it was a very cloudy day is maybe why,
Thanks Bob, it doesn't seem suicidal so I go with the second reasoning, although I do fear it could hurt itself. I will try some different things based on what you have told me and see if something will work. Thanks so much!
Thanks I do plan to put pictures of owls and see if it works!
Interesting thought Lynda. I have also heard superstition about birds trying to get into a house which I think had to do with death so of course I am not looking that one up! lol
It could simply be reminding someone to fill the feeder(s), some birds are like that. As dogs bring you their empty feeder dishes to ask for food.
Also, it is well known that birds are often seen as messengers from the afterlife :)
No my cat is not outside long enough to do any damage; the cold has her shy of outdoors right now. Her bed is just over a heat vent that looks out a window and sometimes the bird picks her window too. lol
Birds wouldn't be breeding now anyway...too cold to raise hatchlings. Safe travels, Theresa!
Yes they are calling for 3 to 8 inches of snow here; I sure hope they miss that!!
Sounds like the bird may be picking at your cat. LOL
You just don't know. It could be!
Those are so beautiful; hope you solve that problem too!
Thanks; it does to me too so I will try his ideas.
