Maybe you could try the following?
Make sure you have unique content that fills a need. (Make sure someone is going to search looking for what you're writing and it hasn't already been written.)
Have 1000+ words of well researched, error free writing. (I recommend finishing a hub, saving it and letting it sit for a few hours or overnight, re-reading it out loud and editing it, and then publishing it.) You want your reader to be able to focus on your message, not on trying to understand your message.
Consider posting a link on the feedback forum and asking more experienced hubbers for specific advice.
Use at least 3 relevant, high quality, legally obtained, water-mark-free photos with good captions and at least 2 non-text, non-photo capsules. Poll and Quiz capsules are good for encouraging hub interaction.
