Are you embarrassed by hugging and rather not and think some overdo it or is it okay and a great thing to do? What are your thoughts on this?
sort by best latest
Yes I married into a no hugging family and I think they came to look forward to hugs!
We are a huggy, kissy family too ...and oh what joy it is when those precious grandchildren run and jump into your arms giving the best hugs ever ...and they don't want to let go. Hugs are divine!
Great point; it does seem to be leaning toward being a cold social world, doesn't it?
What a wonderful way to think, Bob.
Human touch is powerful and a hug is just what the doctor orders ...at least to me.
It's true that hugs/physical contact are said to boost self-esteem and health, like laughter.
I had kids of my own before I hugged my dad and it was such a great decision! It was always hugs and smiles after that.
Naturally with friends of a long time; I agree.
Mm yes, wouldn't want to have to body slam someone! lol
Love your answer, Dashing.
dashing....LOL...It's been so damned long, I've forgotten why people press their bodies together. I'd probably think they were simply cold and needed to warm up! (Not THAT way, warm up!) Clear Ur mind dashing!! LOL
No I am not comfortable with people I do not know; men anyway.
Yes; I read about that below! lol
Oh thank you Eric! You sound like a spiritual hugger and these are great stories; you should do a hub about them! It would be wonderful to have a hug worry someone for years and then have to pay it back! I have been hugging for awhile now at HubPages
Hi there, Best Commenter, Paula, Your wonderful answer pretty much sums it up how hugging is done up right in my life too! To me, hugging makes this world so much more sweeter. Sending you a virtual Hug.
Shew I had one kin family that kissed from time I was a kid and I learned pretty early on I was not going to get away from it so I took all those sloppy kisses to get them over with and when no one was looking wiped my face on the bottom of my shirt!
And hugs right back to you Theresa!
Jackie....LOL......Yuk, sloppy kisses. I'm MUCH more selective when it comes to kisses! Especially during cold & flu season! LOL--A hug will do just fine.
Well Paula these were female aunts and cousins so I guess it could have been worse...you know...if it had been guy (boy) cousins of which I had a couple good looking ones...I might have got involved...lol!
I reserve my kisses to my grandchildren and hope they are not sloppy LOL
Yes; it doesn't matter about those baby kisses, even sloppy ones welcome!
Did you have too much caffeine too? lol
Thanks you MizB and I agree; all kittens need a hug!
I would sort of agree with that too.
I am a hugger too but not just anyone! lol I do feel strange hugging men I do not know and I will stick my hand out to them. Now if and when I get to know them I might hug them all the time! Well not all the time....
Oh, I have to know of them or in a particular place like at a church function lol. I actually started a hub back a couple months ago on the power of a hug ...guess I should finish it up.
That's good and I can understand that. I really prefer men I do not know to not hug me....
I agree completely!
Good, I didn't want to have to be the only one with this opinion. I would hate to find out otherwise! lol
It is a problem to some...but they just need to practice!
Human interaction should be normal, and come naturally to humans. Dare I ask the next question...Nature vs. Nurture?
Too cool. That body we are given as a host should be used to spread the natural pure love of neighbors.
Wow; I am not too sure about all that myself! lol
Hugs are good for sure!
Little old ladies too; don't you just love to give them hugs? Sometimes I think some of them have maybe been a lifetime without a hug and it pleases me to let them know they are still loved! Have to be a little careful with old men though! lol
Ha, ha! Yes indeed. I think one knows when another needs a hug; then I would give freely.
You are obviously a very kind person, Jackie.
Ah, well...who knows when I may need a hug sometime!
