This section of HP was designed to gather information and opinions, to spark ideas for new Hubs. But sometimes, I get the feeling people ask questions just to provoke arguments. What do you think?

I don't, either, but some days, it seems like this section should be titled War. Thanks for answering.
Thanks for answering!
Thanks for answering.
I confess, I often back away from answering some questions as well, purely based on who is asking. Thanks for answering!
Lisa, your graciousness to all your participants is an example to us all.
I agree with you, Kathleen.
I'm blushing, y'all. Daddy always said, "Don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer." Sometimes, I have to bite my tongue, and remember, I did ask...
Hey now! I resemble that accusatory statement!
In truth, I have taken down far more hubs than I have 'posted', when I no longer feel the article is relevant, I put it back into 'unpublished' state.
So, are you looking for answers, or looking for an argument?
Thanks for answering, Carolyn.
I think the thing to do is not take answers personally. People can give their opinions and answers, and I can choose to accept them and move on. Thanks for answering!
Thanks for answering, Patty.
Yeah, when it gets down to personal attacks and insults, I'm out. Thanks for answering, Ken.
Yes, when the discussion turns to personal comments about the other people answering, I confess, I walk away from the discussion. Thanks for answering!
Good answer! Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for answering. My feeling is that I should answer the question that's asked, and leave it at that. If I'm inspired to write a long, wordy answer, perhaps that's best done in a new hub.
I agree Lisa while confess I am wordy as shared ;-) That is where purpose for the Q&A arrives giving quandary at times. Thus, I hesitate offering answers . . .
Yes, but the question is what YOU do.
Good answer, Michael. Thanks.
Thanks for answering!
Thanks for answering, Mrinmoy, and welcome to HubPages!
I have no idea, but that does seem to be the case on many questions.
Debate implies sticking to the original question. All too often, answers and comments turn into personal attacks. Thanks for answering!
