I'm about to publish my FIRST hub. What advice would you give to start making money?
I understand that I will not make a lot of money up front, maybe at all! But I have seen a lot of argument as to whether I should use the Amazon capsules or the ad program or Adsense. Which of those things would I be able to use during my first article?
To earn revenue from ads, you first have to be accepted into the ad program. That usually happens anywhere between 15-30 Hubs, so it'll take time. Once you're in, you'll earn based on how many views you get, and starting off, it usually isn't much (maybe a few dimes a day).
Amazon could make you money now, but you have to be careful inserting them and ensure they don't come across as spammy. Readers will be disinterested in your future work if it just feels like you're trying to sell them something.
I'm not trying to dissuade you, but earning here takes time and patience. If you have a love for writing, HP is a great site; if not, the amount of work required probably isn't worth it. Best of luck!
The answer is neither, UNLESS you already have an Adsense account that you can use here immediately.
You can sign up for the HP Earnings Program immediately, but you won't earn a cent from it until you have an Adsense account.
Adsense is fussy about whom it approves - you will need to write 10-15 Hubs and get them all Featured, THEN you can apply to Adsense and you'll have a chance of being accepted.
Good advice. I'll point out users like myself had over 25 Featured Hubs before AdSense accepted them; it varies.
Either way, like Marisa and I have mentioned, this is a long-term project financially, so keep that in mind when making your decision.

I'm new to HubPages, so give me a break if this is a terrible question. I nearly have 40 followers, and I have posted 15 hubs in 5-6 weeks. When do you start making the big bucks?
