   What does the number on my profile pic mean?
   
   The scores on my individual articles are in the mid-sixties. Does this mean that I am a poor writer according to the standards of Hubpages?

   Welcome to HubPages. That number on your profile pic is your Hubber Score. It is the collective score of your entire HubPages profile. That score along with your HubScores (associated with your individual articles) fluctuate in unpredictable ways. You are not supposed to worry about the scores too much. As long as you are contributing high-quality articles, comments, answers, etc., your Hubber Score should increase over time. It is all written in the HupPages FAQ.

      Thank you!  I was wondering, especially since scores in the sixties would be an F in school, however, my articles are being featured. So, I guess I am doing ok.

   Like Tomi says Welcome to HubPages and the writing adventure before you with a journey in learning.
   
   The score on the profile pic is Hubber Score. The biggest factor for that is Hub average score. But, it is unknown how they use it. For instance, my Hubber Score is always higher than my average.    Hub Scores arrive from two assessments through the Quality Assessment Process (QAP). That has two parts. One is it is evaluated by a bot gathering info. They use an algorithm to give a value. What it looks at are things like counts of words, capsules and type, and images. You can see those in the edit mode at the dashboard at the upper right.
   
   The other part is the article is actually read by a person through a human resource. That is Amazon Mturk. I am unsure if it is read only once or maybe more by different readers. Those are paid jobs as piece work. To qualify they undergo a process to be accepted and are reassessed from time to time.
   
   They use criteria set by HP to make their assessment with a rating scale. The rating scale is 2 - 4 - 6 - 8- 10 They assess three parts. How the overall rating is determined is based on those somehow and someway. Those parts are:
   
   Substance
   Organization
   Grammar & Mechanics
   
   They first have to decide if the article is Creative writing or Informational. Those have different criteria. Following is a link to the criteria.    It may be advisable to read over the criteria. For info what I do as a learning experience is look at my score. If it is 68 I look a the 6 criteria. Then I look at 8 - 10 to decide how I could have improved. But, again, I don't know how they combine the three different categories to get a rating. In other words, I may feel my grammar & mechanics and organization was fine, but I may have to work on substance. So, I give attention to that criteria.
