Are there any other sites to write for other than hubpages. I am unsatisfied with this site...

due to inability to use my google adsense for reasons unexplained by both hubpages and google. It also seems like a popularity contest and while I know my hubs help people, they aren't flashy like the latest gadgets, writing advice, or especially tech stuff. Some of the most popluar hubbers are not very nice. I just want to write and make a little extra cash.

Sounds like you have some solid answers, I'll just add a few thoughts:

    -Suite101
    -Demand Studios
-Squidoo (You can use your own affiliate links, banners, etc. in addition to profit-sharing AdSense, eBay, Amazon...)
    -Blogger (Amazon and AdSense)

If you want to write for hire, there is always:

-Elance ($50 minimum for their jobs)
    -oDesk
    -Guru
    -GetaFreelancer
    -GetaCoder

These are all auction-style sites: you bid on work, and you do have less control on the work you get, but you will make more money faster (I've been making thousands on Elance part time, $8k and change since November, working very little)

izzetl,  I am so sorry to here this, hubpages does have some Gods and Goddesses but you will find them on any site you go to. Try and sort your adsense account out by asking for direct help from sunforged, Susanas or go to the hubbers hangout, someone will be able to talk you through it. There is a fast range of topics on HP's so if yours is a little different so much the better. Every sincere hubber will wish you would change your mind.

Personally, I write here and for Helium, Associated Content, and Epinions for my affiliate sites, and Elance is my favorite if you're looking for freelance jobs...I'm a full-time writer, and between the five sites stay more than busy enough. I've heard a lot of people complain about the amount Helium pays, and it seems like the biggest complaint is just that they don't disclose traffic levels or what percentage of ad earnings they're giving you...personally, I don't care what percentage it is because I'm still getting what I need out of it, and have earned a few thousand there too. AC is alright, I get less money there than Helium or Hubpages, but for a little bit extra on the side it does fine. Epinions does not do well on earnings to start with, in fact the most value I've gotten out of it is writing instruction, but once someone gets a "hat" (top reviewer, adviser, etc.) then the money is decent. That said, Hubpages is very quickly becoming my favorite simply because it's more flexible...you can't just sit back and wait for traffic to come in, you have to know how to optimize your hubs and go out there and find your traffic, but it does have a lot better earnings potential because of that. The others don't give that flexibility, and basically there's not much else you can do with those aside from take what traffic you're given and try to put a few links out.

I have ads on my articles but I didn't put them there and I'm not getting anything from them. Google support said everything is ok on their end so they think hubpages is taking the money earned for my ads on my articles. I just feel like it's a battle and I have been writing on hubpages for almost 2 years with just an expectation to write for fun and earn very little extra money- not a huge expectation but I am hugely disappointed.
