Try to find information on .edu or .gov websites to shorten the amount of time you spend doing research. As for voice it is usually best to write using the active voice. Write as if you are speaking directly to your audience and use action verbs whenever possible.
Before publishing anything proofread it. Read it out loud and see how the article flows. Does it lead the reader from beginning to conclusion in a logical manner? Remember the first draft of anything is never the one that gets published.
Over time your own distinctive writing style will emerge and your writing will keep on getting better. The important thing to do is keep on writing, proof reading and revising your work.
