Keyword research is what the title optimization tool in hubpages is for. It will help you get the right words in your title, so that search engines are more likely to rank it.
Link building is making sure that Google knows about your hub, and takes it seriously. The easiest method of link building, the absolute basics, is through smart tagging. See my hub about how to optimize how you dance on hubpages here:
Volume: as Tom already said, it takes more than 6 hubs to make a decent amount of money. Start answering questions by making hubs about them. Interlink related hubs of yours. Use the 'groups' feature. Find a niche and elaborate on it.
Making money online is just like any other business: it takes work, skill and perseverance. The skill can be acquired, the rest is just rinse and repeat.
Oh - and as to submitting your URL to Google, it's totally unnecessary. One of the advantages of hubpages as a platform is that it's very good at showing new hubs to search engines. The result is that it's very unlikely Google doesn't know about them. The problem is: it doesn't take them seriously.
