I do not claim to be experienced for I am not. But my favorites are StumbleUpon, Digg, folkd.com, Slahdot. These have the highest pageRanks so you'll get the most by putting links on these. I have put links on my profile if you go to them and then follow me (I'm called "hessenn" on Digg and StumbleUpon) on these sites I will also follow you. Good for both of us!

From the last news by people who consider themselves as successful in this business...the pros....the focus is going to be more on excellent content, backlinks from Social Sites, forums, comments on related content post, hubs, blogs, websites and of course some of the old stuff of article directories etc, probably can't hurt. The old way may be gone forever..(if you know what that was) that never worked for me anyway.

I am not a pro but I keep up with those who are and things are changing from what I have read and those who care to make money on line; should do it the right way, straight and narrow way.  It is stated that natural links which are acquired over time are the best; not that some of the other stuff does not work but .....Writing content about lucurative products, passions and information that is truly needed by folks; is the new name of the game and then promoting those sites as stated.  In the past Social Sites did not play as high a role the predictions are saying they now will.

I comment on forums, other websites, other hubs and leave my hubs, blogs and information in Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Stumble Upon, Reddit etc.  After writing an article on Hubpages, you can go to the bottom of the page and pass the hub on to these place along with others.  Check it out, if you haven't.  There are self posting article directories..just google for these...it takes a lot of time and effort and then some more time and effort, it is not a rush deal.

Of course, we read a lot of things.

Great question, and I am as interested in the answer as you are.  I keep hearing about back linking in forums, but I don't know the addresses of any of the forums that people are referring to.  I'd like to know what the high ranking good forums are myself.

not an expert, but I know from experience that social sites just bring in social traffic. If you want the right sort of traffic stick to websites and blogs.

I write on topics I know and passionate about. I also use commenting on related blogs, forums, and ezines. Guest writing is also good and some will join larger writing sites like exaaminer to capture a audience. Twitter is good also.
