Has anyone had a hub copied before?
So, while doing a little searching to check the position of one of my hubs, I noticed a page that contained the identical title of my hub, but it was an article that I hadn't created. I clicked on the link and it was an exact copy of the textual content of my hub with it's own ads, links, etc. It was definitely not a link to my article, but appeared to be an exact copy! What's up with this?! Has anyone experienced this, or is this normal?
No I have not. I can't see how that can happen because when you make up your title and then go to search or browse HP lets you know if that title has been used somewhere else and won't let you use that title.
Is the title the exact as yours or a few words different, because if different it will go through.
Clarification: The site that did the 'copying' was not Hubpages. It was not another Hub, it was an external website. Also, it contained my hub title word for word - it was exactly the same.
This has happened to manyy before although it has not (yet) happened to me. This is not normal behaviour and you should report it to Google, although I have no experience with that. Someone thought your content was good enough to copy and possibly to also earn money with themselves. Are there ads around the copied hub? In that case you should definitely report it to Google - please look or ask around because I wouldn't know how to do that at the moment.
@the clean life: This is about an external website copying a hub. In other words, the content from RocketCityWriter was copied to another website so that has nothing to do with the process of selecting a unique URL for a hub on HubPages itself.
I have not experience it before but it is very comon in the internet. Just check wikipedia. There is a very high possibility that one whole paragraph is copied from an article online or from a book. At least wikipedia didn't use it to make money. Many people do give citations but some do not bother to.
There is nothing much you can do about it unless you think bringing this to the court can help. No matter what we do there are always inconsiderate people who would take advantage of us. I suggest that you look at it from another point of view. Why not think of it as an achievement; you wrote it so well that they couldn't produce a better work no matter how hard they try.
Ohhh.... very tough to keep your content safe. I have not experinced such a problem so far but really worried if that happens. We put so much thoughts, work in creating hubs and these people simply copy and paste them.
Yes, I had a 7,000+ word hub copied onto a site. I used Hubber Edweirdo's HubDefender software to find them and send the hosting company a cease and desist notice (the site owner didn't have an e-mail address posted). The hosting company took down the whole site! It was quite satisfying.
I've also had most of my hubs copied, either in part or in total. I found these through HubDefender as well.
How do I find out? This is a question that I asked a very very long time ago and no one seemed to pay attention to it; that's why sometimes it's better to go through your agent and publisher; at least you're getting paid and plagiarism is penalized.
Unfortunately, word thieves abound. I check the content of my websites regularly with copyscape. I once found an "expert" on an expert site that had copied my website pages word for word - not even an attempt to change things around or "spin" or whatever...
Fortunately whenever I have had to issue cease and desist letters they have been dealt with promptly, but yes theft of content is an unfortunate and annoying part of being a writer on the internet.
People either don't realize or plain don't care that it is an act of "theft" to copy and paste the words of others as one's own.

Do you include a copyright notice in your articles? Why or why not?I never do this, but I see that a lot of folks on here do. Just wondering what the opinions are out there.
