I may be late in catching on to this but I just claimed my first "exclusive title".
Can someone tell me more about it and why the title is more likely to be successful, with good written content to back it up of course!

I used to write for Demand Studios and we had to claim titles. I liked it but am glad that isn't the only way to write for HubPages.

You can learn more about it in the learning center http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/Exclusives

Basically, an exclusive title is one that does not exist already on Hubpages.  You claim the title and only you can publish under it.  Once you claim it, you can not change the title like you can on regular hubs... If you're exclusive title is not performing for you then there are probably other factors within the body of the hub holding you back. The only way to remove the exclusive title is to delete the hub and start over with a new hub.

Even though the title does not exist here, that doesn't mean that it will perform well here.  You still need to do some traffic and keyword research.  Try using the auto-suggest feature on Google's SE or any of the SE's that have that feature.  The suggested terms are those that are most often searched for so can possibly be of benefit if there is not too much competition.

livewithrichard - I'd like to thank you for the information on claiming exclusive titles.  I just went to the link, read up on it and have now claimed 4 titles.  This is great. Again, thanks so much!

I just used two exclusive titles this month.  Richard's answer on it is what I have taken from the learning center and apprenticeship program.  Very nice to have these title options.

Sinea - Thanks for posting this thread on exclusive titles.  I read up on it using livewithrichard's link and found some great titles.  If not for this thread, I might have missed this opportunity.  BTW - I, too used to write for Demand smile

Livewithrichard, thanks so much for taking the time to explain it and share the link. I appreciate it so very much.

Vocalcoach, so glad you saw it, too.  It will be exciting to see if traffic picks up with exclusive titles!

So... after reading the link that was provided... You don't receive any special payments for writing an exclusive right? It's just that it could receive higher traffic if you use tags and keywords right?

    Is that correct?

My impression is that your are correct on this. I'm assuming that they have done some of the 'legwork' for you by picking a unique title that has some keyword value.  It's good for them-- and good for you.

These are high searched articles which can be easily ranked in search engines. HP does not have these articles so you can succed.
Anyway Congrats you are one of  top Hubbers of our community.

Sorry to disappoint, but I would check the exclusives out well for 'competitiveness' using one of the many available tools. From my checks only about 1:10 or 1:20 are competitive - depends on the topic. Just my opinion of course!

I have an exclusive too,  and I don't see that it brought any more traffic to my hub.
