What would you qualify as "good traffic" is it 100 views? 1000 views? 10,000 views?
It depends what you are looking for.....
Traffic will depend on if people are searching for the subject and if there is a lot of competition for the keywords that you have used.
So if you have written about something that has many thousands of people searching for it and there is very minimal competition then you could potentially get thousands of views. If however your hub is about something obscure that no one is likely to search for then you will be lucky if you get any views.
Personally I am happy if hubs hit double or triple figures each day, if only I could get every hub to do it!!
Well thanks for responding. I just didn't know exactly what to expect. Ive posted a few now and I guess I need to work more closely regarding key words.
You can expect to earn between $2 and $5 per 1,000 views. If you consider that you could sell a good article for $20 to $30, then you'd want to get around 10,000 views per article to make it worthwhile posting here. However those views might come over a year or two.
This is a brilliant answer. People are looking for information they can measure for themselves. Marisa is very HubPage knowledgeable, her information is "spot on" as far as I have seen
Thousand views seems like a LOT to a new hubber, but once the ball gets rolling it can add up. Yes, it take patience-- also work. Everything worthwhile takes both.
Great answer, but personally I don't count a hub as having 'good traffic' till it goes beyond that, because I know that a lot of my hubs will end up only getting a few hundred visits in total, so I need my successful hubs to do well enough to make up for that. I tend to think of anything over 50 visitors per day as good traffic, which I would expect to eventually take me well over 10,000.
Unique visitors are apparently the golden ones they re-visit your pages.

Your Hub Titles and Hub content looks good.
However, the age of your hub domain is so young.
Keep up your good work for at-least 6 months and you will enjoy the traffic automatically. For your topic (so for) each topic in average can get 2-3 view a day. Lat us say in 6 months you have 40 hubs, your estimated traffic may be somewhere around 80 to 120 per day. [This just a guess based on the current competion]
Thanks for this explanation. You just clarified alot for me in the numbers!
How are you defining "good?"
Depending on the purpose and goal of your Hub, any of the numbers might be considered "good" but that's going to be subjective and vary from person to person. You need to set goals for your Hub, and then see if you can achieve them, then set new ones.
I recommend small steps. Easier to achieve, and smaller goals you hit more often helps more people progress.
I reckon the more the better. But, I was reading that an average of 150 per day is ideal. Hubpages counts our traffic scores differently. Google
analytics give a better traffic count - sign up with them.
What about getting 10 or 20 views on first day of publication and then views falling to 1 or 2 per day each hub? I have 5 hubs published and total views only upto 150 in 2 months time.
I agree with lean man that trying to find a topic of interest that will be fresh and lasting is the hardest part. After 3 years, I quit worrying about traffic and have been writing history, biography and travel Hubs. I only write what I like to write about. I use Hubs as a test for longer pieces. I have Hubs that have drawn repeated views every day in double digits and others that do nothing for a couple weeks and then one person reads it and it attracts another spurt of views only to sit dormant again. So my advice is to see Hubpages as a creative exercise and don't worry about number of views.
LaryssaGeorge, my best hub does about a 100 views a day, so for me this qualify as decent traffic. If you can scale that with several hubs then it could look pretty good.
What do you mean by good?
To the owner of a small buisness just making a living would be seen as good.
To a large company then they want far more before they see it as "good".
Personally I get around 20 views a day for all of my hubs combined. This is rubbish compared to many other people. However as I have only been here a month (Profile says 2 years but that is a long story) I'm happy. If I look at my google analytics then I see my traffic is rising steadily week on week so I would say for my current situation 20 views a day is "good"
I am kinda' in the same boat as you are returning as a writer after a hiatus. Also I am satisfied and happy 'today' with the low views compared to the experienced and practiced veterans who continued writing and posting as compared to me. Like Marisa mentioned time is the curing process for reaping rewards for an article.
So, for myself today an average of twenty or more views a day keeps a smile. A grin arrives with hope for tomorrow, and giggle + giggle comes about with realizing there are more steps to achieve that hope. Some I remember from the past and many with the changes to the business of internet writing need to be re-learned and as many learned.
Any views are better than no views. The aim for me has to be to have continuously rising traffic even if just by a little a month.
Thank you all for responding. Im still learning the ins and outs of HP. Appreciate input!
I am looking forward to getting enough response and qualifying Hubs to get Adsense. Most importantly I am enjoying the writing outlet and format here.
I'm still looking forward to learning the ins and outs-- usually things work well-- but today when I tried to post fan mail to you, everything glitched up. Weekends are the worst, but they are usualy pretty prompt with chasing the net-gremlins away.
Gremlins love it! I haven't been able to follow anyone until tonight!
Good traffic is traffic that materializes into a monthly pay-out. For me, 2 or 3 digits daily views on a hub is good traffic. My hubs that score over 85 have more chance of attracting good traffic. For me, Pinterest took care of one hub that went viral and gets 3 to 4 digits daily views. Pinning great images to Pinterest and tweaking titles for more Google searchable terms can sometimes instantly boost traffic to a hub.
I hope this personal experience helps.
Hello, we can call traffic good if we will get our targeted audience in traffic and their ration will be atleast 70% per month. Traffic should be of our need. We should get more clicks.
Unique view is your repeated visitor..if you are getting 1000 views repeatedly , It is really a good traffic
I learned a long time ago not to expect hundreds/thousands of hits per day on my stuff because my particular "niche" is fairly narrow. I've reached a point where I'm averaging anywhere from 100-125 hits per day (that's not per Hub, but across all my hubs) with minimal effort from me...which is probably small potatoes to most of ya but it's OK by me.
Thank you all for great info. Im sharing more on FB by just sharing my hubaddress seems to have spiked a bit. Also pinned a few on pinterest. I do agree that I need to work on searchable terms and keywords more.
The community teamwork and advice hear is great!
I think it's relative to the amount of traffic that the topic commands based on #1 ranking in Google.
For example, if you wrote two articles that rank #1 in Google for their key search terms, and one of those articles generates 2,000 views a day and the other only 100, then that's excellent traffic, because you rank #1 for both.
Firstly LaryssaGeorge thanks for posting this question. I am trying to get a hang on all of this as well so I have found the information very interesting.
Secondly the only dumb question is one you should have asked and did not. So, no not a dumb question.
Don't go with the numbers.
good traffic = organic traffic = traffic from search engines!
Work on SEO. It will not only increase traffic but also your earnings!

I suppose with the latest Google Panda update and all the low traffic we've been getting, I guess it's time to start writing more hubs. While I wasn't affected too badly by the update, I still want to increase my traffic and hit payout next month or the month after. I want to hit 80 hubs by the end...

My hub about gay themed movies has surpassed 90,000 views. The traffic on my other hubs is climbing as well. I actually earned more money this month then I did in 6 last year.Help me get my hub to 100,000 views. That would be awesome!

I made a video game hub that I published in early December 2010. This hub went viral (to an extent). It started to receive 1000 views a day. The views would change a bit between 650-1000, but 1000 was the peak. Even once the Google Panda came in Feb., it still got 100+ views. Today, it is receiving...

How long did it take you to get to 10,000 views? It took me 4 months and 3 weeks. Just wondering if that's about average, if there is such a thing.

I have 106 hubs published -- but of that number, I have ONE that gets at least 1/3 of all my total traffic, and now gets more than all of my other 105 hubs hits daily. It is somewhat entertaining and humorous-- but not what I consider one of my MOST entertaining and humorous. I Have some ideas why...
