I'm still quite new to hub pages and have a few posts that were featured. I posted two poems today but as a poem does not have the same criteria suggested for a text article -eg minimum word count preferably way over what an average poem has - also I see many poems on hub pages do not have videos and graphics - thinking that it possibly detracts from the poem. I would like to know how is a poem then rated on hub pages and what makes it worthy to be featured?
Hi Raine, and welcome to HubPages. Poetry and other types of creative writing like short stories, fanfiction, and humor writing are assessed using our Creative Writing Scale.
Thanks for that - I had a look at your notes. Can I ask whether there is a preference for American spelling. The word colour for example - In american grammar I believe it is spelt 'color' but as I follow grammar from England I spell it as colour.
Not as much as articles and recipes. I write mostly poetry hubs and make a minimal for poetry. Poetry usually does not have as much of a word count :-)
There is no minimum word count for hubs. They just have to do enough to pass QAP whether that be with 100 words or 10000.
Today since I published a poem How To Get Over Death... my score was knocked down 2 points. I don't know why.
You score is effected by the scores of your hubs, new fresh hubs start with lower scores. Ergo posting a new hub will temporarily drop your score a bit.
Thanks for your feedback. I wrote two poems more as a way of exploring a theme and to experiment with different writing styles. My score was not as high as my text posts which were all featured - so I'm not sure if its because It's still new or maybe I should just stick to text writing. So any constructive critism is most appreciated.
It is your choice to use but in common and basic English it is spelled color rather than colour and both spellings mean the same.
Thanks for your input - always appreciated.
1st of all Raine, I write poetry because I as well as others enjoy it. If I can make earnings from it then that is great. However, you can do various writings. For instance, try writing poetry within an article. That may score higher. It may depend on how attractive the page is with pictures and how well you use the tools (links, text boxes and etc.) that are provided by hub pages. To my surprise, I did a cabbage recipe (with a poem in it) and for a long time it scored higher than any hub. Whatever you do don't stop writing your beautiful poetry whether it scores high or not. You can make a difference in someone's life with it :-)

I have been on Hub Pages about a year and I have written about 27 Hubs and they have received close to 5000 views, which I felt was not bad and my status hovers between 82-88. Last week I had about 8 of my Hubs featured, which again seemed ok. Now magically overnight, I have all these codes now...

Hubber scores do not reflect anything but some weird algorithm that is not in sync with anything. My score just went sixteen points down. My views are up and I am featured way more that 140 times. But what I noticed was Billybuc. He is an 88. What? He is the highest ranking site at Hub pages. This...

I think I know something about writing articles. I created a new hub yesterday. HubPages took 24 hours before declaring, in one of their mystery messages, that it was of sufficient quality. You know what? It was too good. I deleted it and will now easily place it elsewhere and earn with it.No...

Right now, it feels as if I'm in a headlock with one moderator, over one product capsule.Team Hub Pages suggested I post here for suggestions on improving my hub with the most traffic. it was recently edited and several product capsules were removed. Then I put them back in. Then it was unfeatured...

How well do poems and short stories do on HP?I noticed a while back somewhere that HP staff had mentioned that creative writing such as poems and short stories don't do as well as informational pieces. I'm curious to know about the earnings of some of the people who publish a lot of these. Do you...
