The editors choice can be a great accolade, unfortunately I know many of the best hubbers I have discovered are frustrated with the EC system, or have given up on it all completely. Some days the hubs are great, other days they are poor quality, with rampant spelling and grammar errors. I know some HP staff read this, so if you feel like I do, that editors choice should be more worthwhile, would you mind commenting with what you would like changed?
You are the first hubber (that I know of) who has had courage enough to post this. And I have to agree with you. Not that MY hubs are great, but I do put all I have, like you, into each one I publish. And the Hub Weekly email, I used to wish that My friends and maybe I could make it to the Rising Stars, but nope.
So thanks, dear Kathleen, for doing this.
I don't feel this way about EC Hubs, I feel this way about the Hub of the Day selection. Some of those are just appalling and quite the embarrassment.
And just out of curiosity, asked to the people who want the EC Hubs revamped, do you read Hubs and nominate them for that consideration? Because that's what HubPages expects you to do to help them with that.
Are we supposed to vote for EC hubs? I see total crap getting nominated, and hubs I may have written long ago, but that I put days and sometimes years of research into, get no attention. I do write about esoteric subjects, but was always told I was a good writer. It's disheartening. Many of the topics I write about are evergreen and there is no newer info on them.
Jean, seems as if you and I have learned a new twist to HubPages--voting for other hubbers materials. I can do that, but most of the "Hub Surfing," I have done lately has led me to hubs with subjects that are so "out there," that just a small segment of a selected group of readers could understand them. And how do "I" vote on those?
Oh well. I think I will take a day next week and vote for some of YOUR hubs, Jean, and some of Kathleen's hubs.
You are both Fantastic writers.
Then I'll be voting for your hubs which often make me smile . Jodah, I don't know you, but it sounds like your hubs are worth reading, so I'll go on over later and check them out.
@ Jean and Kathleen, you are both wonderful people as well as writers. I will head to the "vote for this hub," section ASAP and I hope that one of you wins The Hub of The Day. I appreciate you both very much.
AH! That was what I meant! OOPS! I confuse them a lot. But I was referencing Hubs of the Day originally.
I also try to vote for all hubs I really enjoy.
What I think should be "revamped" is both the EC and HOTD in how they are selected. Since the HOTD is selected by HP Team and some of them are low quality hubs, I think the writers should vote for the HOTD. The writers have a better opinion it seems as to a good hub and the HOTD is featured for all to see.
Now, since the ECs are not prominently displayed for all to see, and since HP Team seems unable to always pick a good quality hub, then HP Team should choose EC hubs.
If it was done in the way I suggest, I believe there would be a lot less complaining about the HOTD, because we the writers would vote for it.
Sheesh, I certainly wasn't looking for credit for posting this! But thanks Kenneth . It makes me a little sad when I receive notifications that I am one of the top 1% of all hubbers, and that was before three months here. We already have great google ranking in comparison to other content sites, but if rules were a bit more tight, we would all benefit, even if it means fewer writers in the end.
I have received three Editor"s Choice awards for hubs but that was early on, and now it doesn't seem to matter what I write about or how good the hub is I don't seem capable of getting another. I even think my writing has improved a lot since then. As for Hub of the Day, I have no hope. I am even having trouble keeping my Hubber score up. It just dropped to 85 which is the lowest for ages.
Kenneth, you have n hope of getting a Rising Star Award sorry to say, you have been here more than 6 months.Good luck to you though Kathleen.
Wow Jodah, I cant believe you have only gotten three! Your hubs are brilliant and unique! Not to mention the amount of conversation they create! This is more evidence that the EC award needs to be tweeked
In my opinion, Jodah, all your hubs are EC. You are one of the best and most versatile writers at HP and generate a lot of comments quickly -- I am amazed at how fast you rack up so many comments within the first few hours of publishing. I am happy if I get more than10 comments on a new hub within 3 days, while yours can receive over 30 in a few hours.
Hey Phyllis, that's kind of you too. I guess I must be doing something right. I try to write to appeal to a wide audience. When I get notification that you have published a hub I hurry there to read it as quickly as I can too. Sometimes I have so many email notifications new hubs take me a few days to get to unfortunately. That's what comes from following too many. You put so much research and work into your hubs they are all worthy as well.
I totally agree with you Phyllis. Fingers crossed someone proactive on the HP staff happens to read this thread

I had not realized until today that if someone has earned a Hub of the Day Accolade you can click on the icon on their profile page to read the contents of the Hubs which have earned the accolade. I am wondering if HubPages Staff might like like to consider doing the same thing with the...

This is getting silly. The last few Hubs I updated had all links to other Hubs snipped, even though these links were (a) on the same topic (b) helpful to the reader and (c) pointing to the same niche site. I really try to understand why Amazon links are removed, and I get why links to other sites...

Just curious, one of my hubs, selected as a hub of the day some time ago has been my top performing one for quite a while. However, it does seem odd to me that hubs of the day are not automatically selected as Editors Choice Hubs as well! Anyone else ever wondered why this is? If not, would...

Editor's Choice HubOne of my hubs has received more than 2000 visitors within three months, but it has not been selected as Editor's Choice. What is the most essential thing required for Editor's Choice Hub. Please explain.

I had 11 Editors Choice hubs. I noticed today that I only have 10 of them now. I don't remember exactly which hub lost the EC status but I have a feeling it might be a hub that has become unfeatured due to engagement. If an EC hub becomes unfeatured due to engagement does it lose EC status? And if...
