Links to a HubPage on a Blog generates incorrect title

   I'm adding links to specific hubs on a blog - by adding the URL into the blog list capsule on Blogger. I found that while some titles came up fine (ie precisely) others came up with an addition derived from the comments capsule - which seems very odd!
   
   So one of mine reads like this - before I amended it.
   
   [Proper Title of the Hub] Comments - Let me know what you think - but please do not spam!
   
   The latter (Comments etc) is the subtitle used for the comments capsule on that particular hub.
   
   It's not happening with all of them - but it shouldn't be happening with ANY of them!  A title is a title is a title - it doesn't need any additions from any of the capsules in the hub

      It's not a problem with Hubpages; it's a problem with the gadget on Blogger. The gadget has to pick up on what the title is and it obviously makes mistakes. It's just a program and it's not perfect. Blogger itself is overly fraught with little bugs and glitches like this. If you want something that works better, you would have to script it yourself. I'd imagine you could achieve this with javascript.
      
      Regardless, there's no reason you need to have the exact title as the anchor text of the link; unless you're concerned that the title is really effective at drawing readers in. Exact match anchor text is actually one of the things that Google's Penguin algorithm picks up on.
      
      Google favours contextual links. Links in your blog posts are worth more than links that sit in the sidebar or another area of your site because they build relevance. If you have a blog post about a related topic to your hub, then link to your hub from within the post, not only does Google give it more value, but it is also more likely to get readers to click through to your hub.
      
      The thing is, web readers are blind to sidebars and advertising these days, so it's becoming increasingly unlikely that they'll click on anything outside the blog post. If you want them to click through, linking within your post is the best option, and it also helps with Google ranking. It's a win-win situation really.

         Actually the gadget on Blogger has no problem picking up the correct title of any site with a feed - this is the first time I've ever seen it produce a rubbish title for a feed.

            There is no feed for your Hubpages account. That feature was disabled.

               Well it's very odd how inserting a URL into a module on Blogger automatically produces a title!
               
               IMO It's really stupid not to have a feed which produces the CORRECT title for a site and the meta description - that is after all what Google picks up!

      You can see the information that is shared in the Hubs microformat here.
      http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
      
      Enter the Hub URL and it will show how the Hub is formatted and shared with other sites.
      
      Unfortunately, we have no control over how this information is used by other sites.

   I usually go the anchor text route myself. I think Google looks more benignly on that method, but who really knows?

   Sorry - I should have made this clearer - I'm using the feedreading module in Blogger ie the one which automatically picks up the title of a site
   
   Saves so much time re typing plus also automatically saves any change in title as and when it happens - which does not happen with the anchor text route.
   
   The point is the feed should not be picking up the comments module sub-title on only some hubs
