I have a green comments button next to my profile picture at the moment which when I click on it in the usual manner to respond takes me to a page where I can't see the comment to respond to it. Is anyone else having this problem?
I do not have any such button at my profile picture. Normally pending for approval comments are notified on your account page. When you click there, you go to a page where you can approve and reply to them.
Your problem is a new one. It might be some glitch. Try reloading your page and see whether it disappears.
I've also found that comments are taking hours after the green button shows up to appear on my comments dashboard. The weird thing is that the time between the button showing up and the comment becoming visible to me is extremely variable. The comment may be visible right away or become visible many hours later or anything in between. Also, the green button has indicated I have more than one comment and those multiple comments showed up on my comment dashboard for me to see each at different times.
I don't think it's a glitch because the same thing keeps on happening and resolves itself, always within 12 hours and some of the missing comments may become visible on the dashboard under the low quality designation rather than the unmoderated designation.
I wonder if they're sending comments through their own sort of QAP before we even get to see them? That might account for the variation in times before they become visible to the hub authors. We know they're sorting comments and un-publishing any of our old comments that don't have keywords in them, may have a few typos in them, or contain URLs of any kind, so it wouldn't be surprising if they'd also put them to work sorting comments before they even reach us.
I have noticed a delay as well re the time between notification of the comment, and actually being able to see/read the comment. I thought it was a bit odd.
I also happened the same case but after the exit and log in again, I did not see that anymore. you can also try it
This is a bug we're currently working on. It should be fixed soon. Sorry for the confusion!
Could I ask whether our comments are being moderated before we see them?
They are run through an algorithm designed to recognize low quality comments. Comments that are caught by the filter will still show up in the "Low Quality" section of your comment filters in your account.
Is this the reason why the comments are taking so long before we can access them?
The delay is caused by a bug with the system.
Comments should now show up within a few hours, rather than a few days as was previously happening. We're still looking into cutting that time down. Thanks for your patience.
I have had a couple of links to the niche sites on the account page that did not work properly. I can't remember what they were about though, lol. Probably to do with editing.
It can be a simple notification to go to your niche site to view something or only an information that your hub has been transferred to a niche site.
I don't see any green comments button on my profile page. Is it permanent or appears occasionally?
I've got another batch of delayed comments right now. I'm starting to get used to it, but I hope the people who have commented don't take it the wrong way.
I think there is more to this than meets the eye.

Forget the comment...

Since this feature was deleted, HP staff have told us that this would be reinstated. It does not matter to all of us, but I know that in my case the readers find it very helpful. A former staff member told me last year that this would become a reality in June of 2021. That did not happen. If it is...
