Sounds like you're talking about Misha.
I'm pretty sure he's got a lot more going on than meets the eye.
But for me hubs over fan base, fans are cool but they don't make the cash register ring.
I wasn't but now that you brought it up....lol good one!
Surely you were, cause frankly I don't know of anybody else with such stats but me, and just a couple of days ago you were trying to argue with me over nothing. As I told you back then, if you have something against me, bring it up to light, don't let it spoil your leisure.
As for the what's more important, I can give you a few more facts, so you have more food for comparison: the majority of my hubs are ghost written, and many of them are spun.
Happy pondering
I have nothing against you, and I don't care how long you have been here on hubs, I think and some other hubbers think you come across very arrogant. You need to come down off your pedestal and be a little bit more down to earth. Be more supportive than critical, joking or not sometimes it's not funny! Doesn't matter to me how long you been here or how many stories you've spun. We're all equal here, all in the same boat. Ponder that! Oh and thanks.
Yes, HubPages is serious stuff...no room for joking or sarcasm...
I think some people are too sensitive in the forum...
Hi Uninvited Writer...... how is Shetoldme going for you? I set up a URL channel for it the other day and it had a 80 cents click.....
I have bookmarked 36 of my hubs, and will now be bookmarking the rest. It made me think...... that you must be well on the way to being a millionaire now?
Hey Ryan, what were the stats like, I'm not after figures obviously, but were they normal, or all zeros?
Oh it was YOU! I knew that I had to get back to somebody.
The impressions are always zero, yes. BUT.... I have found out that this is normal for pages that are set up to display multiple adsense publisher ads at the same time. There can be 3 IDs at the same time on those pages, and adsense will only record the primary publisher, which is whoever owns Shetoldme.com.
This is nothing to worry about, just means that it is difficult to judge performance. Hope that clarifies.
Cool, cheers for the update dude.
Although I do write for another site that displays my ads and the site owners ads at the same time, and my stats are always recorded as normal there (as are his). But I'm sure it's fine, fuck it, if nobody else is worried about it, then I shan't either.
Many thanks.
Oh right.... well some big adsense geek told me not to worry, so Im not going to worry
What other site do you write for, out of interest? And is it any good?
I am interested in expanding my adsense income sources, to give me a breather from this place once and a while...
Yeah I'm sure it's nothing, it just seemed a little unusual.
The other site is a site called 'DotWhat?' which is a site about computer file extensions (very boring) but it's run by a friend of mine who I occasionally help write content for (for a share of the Adsense), unfortunately it's a private deal between the two of us rather than an open-to-all site, you wouldn't want in anyway, it's pretty dull and although it's been doing great for the last 3 years it's just been Google slapped.
Have you tried Squidoo? I don't like it but some do OK there, I've also heard others mention 'Bukisa' and 'InfoBarrel' as alternatives.
In what way are we all equal?
Because I see some people with far more talent than others.
I kinda spotted that too
Never worked in Animal Farm either !
well we all pay the same to come on here, and we are all kinda learning aren't we..... some are more talented, but come on.....
I didn't pay anything to be on here. Some are learning more than others. Some are more talented than others. So I guess some are more equal than others (which PirateGirl has already referenced).
Sorry Darkside, but it is not possible for you or me to be "more equal", as by it's very definition, we would in fact be "inequal". But that in itself certainly does not make me your equal by any measure, although I do not believe that I am experiencing inequality. Get your head around that
A famous writer (George Hubwell) once said (in his novel Hub Farm) "All hubbers are equal but some hubbers are more equal than others."
Grammatical correctness aside, it's always a little funnier for someone to use "more equal".
Could be 16 or 17, but much better content than 100 or 101. I guess quality and not quantity. IMO
I don't think its up to anyone to judge another's level of success, I've written a total of 36 Hubs in 5 weeks but only have 16 published because I delete those that are poorly written and hardly visited. If I was to use this then as a measuring stick who is the more accomplished the one that has 15 great hubs that generate enormous traffic or the one with 100 hubs that are complete crap and get no traffic. Maybe...and this is just an idea, but how about we all just focus on ourselves and stop comparing what we do to each other, or if we're going to compare let's cut the crap and just whip em' out and settle the whose biggest argument once and for all.
Definitely not hehehe BLogging is a numbers game if you have many qualtiy hubs you could get more views and even clicks that helps you earn...
Ah, well, do you want to be a success in writing or do you want to be a real popular hubber? Those two aren't mutually exclusive but I agree, it depends on what you're after.
it doesn't matter to me if you have 2000 fans or 2000 hubs or 1 fan or 1 hub, if I like it I'll read it, if I don't like it I won't read it....very simple. I just enjoy being here and writing. And messing with misha too of coarse..lol
Well our revenue is found outside of Hubpages so logically the more you have ( Hubs) the longer the shopper lingers ,then clicks (hopefully)
It doesn't really work like that, Eaglekiwi. Shoppers don't arrive at your profile page and browse through all your Hubs. They come straight to the one Hub that (hopefully) answers the question they asked on Google. It's quite likely they won't even notice you've written any other Hubs!
Fanbase means nothing, when I had my old account I had 500 of which I would say over 200 got bored and buggered off, about 100 log on maybe once in a few weeks, and the other 200 have never bought me a drink in real life so lets discount the Fan Base.
The amount of Quality Hubs is just luck, I had 49 hubs and only 10 made money of which only 1 made me over $100. So if someone is sitting with at least 10 good quality evergreen hubs its going to always beat 200 hubs that are just standard.
Why you actually think a fanbase is important after yer time on the site shows you have learnt nothing, the money comes from outside Hubs, not within. Hope that helps, if it doesnt, like I care !
Myself, I only ever think about my Hubs, no offense to my fans. I worry about making quality content and enjoying my experience here, and my fans just seem to take care of themselves.
Your hubs AND the fact you help out in the Forums quite abit help build your fan base
Well, 1 Hub could be a "godlike" hub in quality and traffic (Misha) and some just throw as much "useful pictures of half nude girls" like Shinujohn2008 (no offense ) with 3011 Hubs.
Both seem successful in there own rights, finding your mid is now up to you!
~thranax~
just write from your heart.....the rest should be secondary....
oh I like my fanbase...they are here do to my quality hubs? LOL
I hope so ;
quality hubs, because to be honest i have like trillions of fans....... but i only communicate on personal level with a few, nice to have them all the same of course
I've earned about 3 or 4 dollars from them Have you earned anything yet?
something I need to investigate? Looks like. My brain hurts.
I only set up URL channels the other day, and have had an 80 cent click.....
I am pretty certain that I have had a $1 before this, which analytics couldnt attribute to hubpages....
Its made me wonder whether or not to just open up Digg, and bookmark everything on their front page on shetoldme.com!
Could eventually grow to be a half decent income that!
So who is disagreeing with who then? I rather like the inequality thing (that's life guys) and think the OP started off ok but then I see a couple of different conversations going on (Voodoo Ezine and Infobarrels work fine) and Misha is keeping both his eyes on the ball.
As for the actual OP question the answer is: quality hubs dear
Well, quality hubs is really what we are here for. And they are real. Fans can just be there to promote themselves.

Which is more important to you personally: writing quality Hubs or publishing 30 Hubs in 30 days?

There are two newly discovered hubbers who have only posted raw translations by using online translating tool, what they did was merely copy and paste the results without doing any further modifications. From the comments they replied, you can tell they don't really understand much English. Even...

Honestly, HP needs to step up and start filtering their input. I have been here for over 5 years and I have watched a lot of changes, but what I see as what must be the most damaging to HP (ergo we writers) with Google is the number of low quality Hubs being allowed in the gate. I hear a lot of...

I've been looking at the Latest Hubbers and doing a lot of HubHopping lately and noticed a pattern. Based upon some of what I have seen I am making some suggestions. I'm sure HubPages staff and moderators see all sorts of patterns to spam and poorer quality Hubs. Here's some suggestions...
